If Ayo goes to Wake, Nolley might follow him there even though Wake was not in his last two of the bracket.

Where are people getting the idea that Nolley is somehow tied at the hip to Ayo now? There has been absolutely nothing substantiating this other than a couple of posters on here speculating, and now people have run wild with it.

Recruiting is fluid, anything can happen. ;)

I sincerely hope they both become Illini teammates instead.

Well I heard that Ayo is considering skipping college and going to China, and Nolley is going to follow him... :D

There is likely 0% chance of that happening. They already have 2 SF/wings committed and I believe they're out of scholarships, so they'd have to clear a space for Ayo. So not sure they'd over-sign by 2.

That sounds like its right out of the Colin Castleton recruitment playbook.. just take Ayo out slide Colin in.

well I would guess its from Piper and Tate, and a couple others like them saying that Nolley was talking to Ayo and told Ayo he was going to be an Illini and Ayo told the staff . now maybe Piper and Tate are just making that up or guessing it happened. But I think thats where everyone is thinking they are so tight . But as Piper said today just like the Illini staff Ayo might not be real happy that he was getting told one thing then it didnt happen

I mean, don't get my wrong, I'd love to see that happen. I just don't get where all this speculation is coming from. Maybe premium info from somewhere? Just typical IL absurdity?

It's one thing to say that Nolley and Ayo talk and that Nolley told Ayo he was going to be an Illini. It's another thing entirely to speculate that Nolley decommitted from UGA in order to follow Ayo to wake, who wasn't even under consideration by Nolley. Lunacy.

Honestly? Champaign. The weather in Phoenix is absolute garbage. I live down the road in Tucson where it is usually 5 or 8 degrees cooler, and it's only barely tolerable here.

Used to live there also, glad I don't have to smell it any longer...and the road layout, well there is none to speak of so...yea I will take Phoenix anyday!:chief:

Your opinion and my opinion differ on the Hill, Nunn, Tate class being good. No problem with that.

If you think Nunn and Hill in a class together isnt a good class - then there aren't many words to discuss. Those two were excellent players, if you disagree, i'm not sure you followed the same team that I do.

I like the city logo for Phoenix, and I like Scottsdale. That's about it. Tucson has its problems, but I'll happily stay here over Phoenix. Plus, my job is here, so that is kind of a bonus.

Northwest valley for me, Mesa is wornout, Central Phoenix is again rejuvenating itself...and Tempe does have the lake which brings some things in like kayaking etc...

Hill and Nunn were the #2 and 3 players in the state/class. Maverick was solid especially last year. Problem is that we didn't land solid classes afterwards especially no PG.

As somebody posted earlier it is strange that the blue bloods never really came after Ayo. Really strange considering he's a potential burger boy and top 30 recruit.

With no information, people make assumptions. We know one fact, Ayo is visiting this weekend. We as supporters of the Illini, should make sure he knows he is our first priority. If he so chooses to request another to come with that is his choice. Our staff runs the team, and they will have the choice as to whoever will be on the team.

Many say one recruit may be a program changer, not sure that is true. We have already had several new recruits, with great talents already join the squad, because they WANTED to. All future recruits should take notes that we want you to chose to play here because you WANT to, for no other reason. That is what will make the program grow and be successful, not anything else. Desire to succeed as a unit is the goal we need instill, we as a fan base need our recruits to know are behind them and staff. Let the new leader make his presence known by his actions, many more will follow.:thumb::illinois:

If his jump shot were better he'd be a one and done candidate.

Even with a jumpshot, there are not that many "legitimate" PG at that size that are 1 and done candidates, whether in their minds or anyone else's. Do many try it yes, doesn't make it so though. DeAaron Fox maybe closest too him recently, and that kid can ball and shoot, Ayo is not there yet.:chief:

I hope he gets there with us though!

As pointed out earlier, ASU also has European players.

But to answer your question, if I were from Europe I’d think it would be nice to have other Europeans on the team with whom to make fun of Americans. :D

Yeah, and if I were from Europe, I'd think it would be nice to not have other Europeans on the team, so that I don't have competition for the good looking co-eds that are into Euro guys.

Of course, that rationale would eliminate UI from contention with Vesel on the team already.

UIUC does not have one undergrad from Finland.

There are probably enough to satisfy them both

I find that hard to believe, but I wasn't referring to girls from Finland. There are plenty of American co-eds that would love to date a European guy that plays basketball.

EDIT: Here's a link proving TC's assertion that there are no students from Finland, period. It's an interesting look at demographics for anyone that's a stat nerd like me.

First of all Ayo is a good player but a D-Fox he is not.......

I would say he has potential but I don't see much difference in Ayo and Trent F. but Frazier has a chopper and Ayo is 6'4 same body style and similar playing styles but Ayo jumper is suspect.

I think the Ayo's commit is more about getting the best Chicago players to make the Illini the first priority. The Illini has always had a powerful connection with the inner city and that is why the Ayo or THT commit is so important.

Getting Mr. Basketball was a great start to putting a traditional Basketball powerhouse back on the map and on the minds of top recruits around the state and the country.

I don't think you guys really understand how good AYO is. He is a top 5 pg in the country! He doesn't have a bad jumper it's just not the best form but he gets it off quick. He gets to the rim whenever he wants.
