I'm telling you, if we whiff on all of our big prospects, we likely won't end up with Ayo. A lot of posters criticize us "negative nancy's" on this board, but there is a reason we as a Illini fans are incessantly pessimistic. I had a feeling we would whiff on all of our Bigs. If I'm Ayo, why would I want to come to a place that can't land any other high quality post players? There are plenty of other top notch schools that want him. There is no positive way to spin us missing out on so many players. You have to think the NCAA scandal has something to do with it.
Joke or not I'm sure the school knows what is going on. Sorry I didn't see the humor, as I knew nothing about Livingston jersey incident.

Nothing could really be worse than recruiting in '08 or '12. We whiffed on everything in '08 and '12 was basically a non-class with almost no talent in-state to pick from anyway. All of this negativity goes away real quick if either Conditt or Nolley (or both) commits this week.
Not really. We are still in there with one of the best players in the country!

if not Conditt or CC or Ayo or whoever... on to the next. With JG, we all knew that we needed 5* talent to win due to coaching deficiencies most of us noted (but chose to ignore) early on. Don't think that's the case with this staff

But come on.
You're suggesting we may get Conditt, but if we don't, the staff knows what they're doing. You're pegging this as a victory no matter what, as if it's all part of the master plan.I'm pretty confident Conditt is going to Iowa State and Castleton is going to Michigan. I'm not terribly worried, though. Nolley is the recruit I'm concerned about this week.
However, one can't really play this off as "don't worry, the staff knows what they're doing". Yes, the staff DOES know what they're doing, but no matter how you slice it, these are recruiting losses.

If we're still in on Nolley and Ayo, we're a long way from a whiff. Add those two to our roster, and it's a success, period.
Definitely need/want a big (or two), and if we've missed on our priority guys, that's a partial whiff. If we can't find someone this fall, that means we have to keep working in the spring.
I'll say it again: this staff has done a helluva lot in just a few months. They're playing catch up on '18, and don't have a winning team to sell (yet).
