ILL vs WF was hands down the best game I was ever at. The crowd was like I have never seen before!

I would have to say mine was the first game of the NCAA in 89 in Indy, over half the crowd was IU fans who were pissed that IU didn't get to play there so they hated everyone lol

A close second was the game Kaufman drained a three at the buzzer against Iowa. I think I was 10 years old.

Ayo followed them on Instagram not twitter, and Mark Smith went from a Mizzou baseball commit to a Illinois Mr. Basketball averaged 28/8/8 his senior year only focusing on bball and chose Illinois and BU over the likes of Kentucky, Michigan St. and Duke. Mark pitching "best backcourt in america" is very realistic if you add in Damonte Williams, Trent and Tejon. and before you say "Damonte is a 3 star blah blah" he was a top 60 recruit until he tore his ACL, and he knows a lot about basketball from his dad...Frank Williams :D

Damonte looked very good in the sectionals, I believe against Bloomington. Must of had about 5-7 slams, including dunking on one player and 1-2 alley oops. He also had some nice blocks off the board. Looked much improved in the few games he played as a senior. He also has a nice 3 pointer and mid-range game. If we land Ayo we will have some big guards.

Oh nothing like this is ever done in recruiting. Michael porter sr got a job at Washington because of his amazing prowess as a women's assistant no doubt. And then he was so good Cuonzo needed to snatch him up quick.

Coleman helps us with Ayo, THT, Whitney, Miller, and every other Chicago player while he is here.

Of course it happens. But putting Chin in that category isn't really fair or accurate imo. Hiring a kid's dad who most recently coached women's basketball is kind of a bit more blatant.

The background to Ayo's twitter page is awesome, I'm guessing it's bulletin material for him this season and for his first year of college.

"He is good but not a UK type kid meaning 1 and done."

To be fair, their response is probably accurate, but you can tell that he probably uses that as motivation.

Corey Evans back in June did say that UK had interest in Ayo after an outstanding Pangos All American Camp. Corey named Ayo "Mr Lunch Pale" after that camp.

Anyone watch Ryan Evan's periscopes? Any word on the unnamed international big man we are recruiting?

In terms of points, Illinois is an LSU better than Wake Forest. :D

Or hiring a truck driver as an assistant coach because his son is a top recruit. ;)

I tried reading one page from the wake forest board and I think I have cancer. I know we can be arrogant but damn, they really are clueless

I just checked out the Black and Gold Athletic Forum, you're exactly right, it's an aggressive bunch of uninformed loudmouths.

I thought you were making these names up.:D But on further check they seem legit. Looks like we have abandoned the U.S. market for a big man. An Italian, A Jew and a Russian. I want OA's FF miles.

maybe the staff wants 1 instate, 1 out of state, 1 out of country each year and hope to get the best they can from each spot lol

If we can get a GIF made of when Dee makes the and-1 layup and is sitting on the floor, nodding his head, that would be great.

Will Ayo be an Illini? Let's ask Dee his thoughts....

You're forgetting about NC State. And for those of us who sports bet, E Carolina will forever be in my heart over the last few years. I wasn't even sure where Wake Forest was. But as I looked it up I found out their entire enrollment is smaller than one graduating class here.
I went to Wake for grad school. At the time, Maryland was handing out more degrees per year than Wake had granted in its 150 year history.
Nice campus. Relocated from the town of Wake Forest (which is near Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham) when RJR Tobacco offered them $$$.
School is very nice, but a completely different vibe than Champaign. Illinois is very Midwestern. Wake is (or at least was then) very Southern.

Sounds like the set-up for a joke

chin up Mr. Craig.... you have endured worse

That is certainly true. I had to endure 6 years of the post-Dee Weber "slowtion" offense and 5 years of the Groce cat-herding offense.

Hopefully Wednesday night will be a fun night in here. Looks like some 'insiders' are in the neighborhood...

32 points, in the second half.

Without question the best college basketball game I ever saw played by the ILLINI at Assembly Hall and the most awesome crowd. I carry the ticket stub in my wallet to this very day. Had a friend with court side seats and we sat near Jay Bilas, the ACC "homer" who was part of the TV broadcast team and heaped abuse on him the entire game . . . Can't wait for that style of play to return!
