I'm apparently the only one that just doesn't think Conditt will ever have the beef to be an effective high major post player.

Castleton is really in the same boat, but he appears to play with more aggression in the clips I've seen.

Pretty sad that ISU is coming into our State and cleaning house. I can somewhat understand Duke, KU, UNC, but ISU? What are we a mid major now?

Dude, we lost out on Conditt bc his dad wanted him to go to his alma mater. Similar to how we got DaMonte Williams, and the exact opposite of what Howard Griffith is doing.

If there was no family pull Conditt isn't picking ISU...word was that Conduit's dad reached out to ISU to gauge interest awhile ago, not the other way around.

The first comment on that tweet makes a good point. Hard to see Georgia having much of a chance if he is recording his video before going on the OV to Georgia. But stranger things have happened...

Yeah that wouldn't make sense for him to visit. Bet it gets cancelled.

Or he already decided on Georgia, and the OV is simply a formality...

Villanona part deux?

I guess we are going to be a team full of guards and wings.

Hope we get 2 of the 3 out of ayo, THT, and Nolley.

Please baby baby please.....

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Roy, wrong again, starts looking for who to blame.

Folks, there were PLENTY of reasons to think George Conditt was Illini bound & until today I thought he was. Bottom line: lots of people misled including some in his own camp.

One of my favorite Loyalty tropes is that OVs to other schools are just fun perks while ours are definite chances to make up serious ground and/or close out a recruitment.

But he is making his video Thursday? He knows where he is going, has known since before his visit to VTech. Just paying schools courtesy visits, and enjoying the benefits.

My thoughts exactly. Seems odd that he'd film before going to the school and the school still agree to pay for him and his family to visit if they are reasonably sure he's not coming. I guess we'll see what happens.

Honestly, I'd argue that no two recruits are alike. Some know where they are going and take a bunch of visits anyway, and some are legitimately doing their research. I have absolutely no idea which recruits are which and I don't pretend to.

So tired of this response. No conspiracy, probably tough decision. Dad wanted him at ISU and he was likely 2-3rd big man choice and we made him know that. CC is our #1 choice so this one will be tough to lose.

Closely related is the predictability of responses to Crystal Ball picks:

For us: "YEAH!"

Against us: "It's just a fake news, click-bait, marketing tool!"

Good luck with that. Unfortunately I lost that battle with both my kids. But scholarship money made it reasonable, which is probably another reason so many Illinois kids leave the state.

Yes, hoping for instate tuition....now back you your recruiting thread.

ZAGSBLOG: Andrew Nembhard to Florida

http://www.zagsblog.com/2017/10/02/andrew-nembhard-make-college-decision-monday/

.

One can only hope the recruiting pendulum swings our way one of these times and Nembhard's commitment to UF pushes Locke to Fichigan. If Nunez commits there too hopefully they will be full and will only take a commitment from someone of RJ Barrett or Simmons caliber.. swinging CC our way..

One can hope right?

EDIT:

Michigan already has iggy locked up in the Wagner mold, and will be the guy coming in scoring mad buckets for them from the get go. So all this talk about "when" Wagner goes pro there will be a huge opportunity available... But none of that has happened yet and they already have iggy, a 6-7, 6-8 do all scoring forward, coming in taking that spot, imo.

Castleton has to see this and know it's not like he would come in and start from day 1. Plus, the way Michigan has been recruiting lately, whose to say a that spot would be available, say iggy were to go pro in a couple years.... I don't know, but I just don't get all this microwave hyper-bole of all the plusses of why CC should go to MU in the 11th hour, over us. We prioritized him. We have the PT. I just don't get it. But that's why Im here and CC is going to choose whom he will choose..

So he is going to "the University of Iowa State."

Okay. :tsk:

Maybe he was still so conflicted up even to the last minute that he combined us with ISU. Had someone distracted him, he might have committed to Illinois.
