No way a top hat fits in a high school locker. They still make top hats? Is he magician?

Word is while opening his locker a top hat fell out, and the band on it was GOLD.

I'm not big on reading into things, but that does not bode well for Illinois.

This is PEAK IllinoisLoyalty.

7 p.m. can't get here fast enough because hopefully by then everyone will have exhausted these rehashed, tired old recruiting jokes referring to cakes, and wearing jerseys at school and not being a fit in the system, etc....

So if I just declare where Ayo is going rn.....I have a 50% chance of becoming a glorified, respected insider and a 50% of becoming a nobody that I already am....

Couple questions in general about b-ball recruiting. If seen it posted on here that a team can over sign by 1. Is that the way it has always been or is this the result of a recent rule change? Second one is if a head coach (or assistant for that matter) has a son who is on scholarship, by when would that player have to give up his scholarship in order for that spot to be considered as not over signing? So for example, if Tyler Underwood was on scholarship by when would he to give up the scholarship (or notify NCAA he was going to give it up) in order for the Illini to be able to sign for that spot without it counting as over signing? Not sure if that makes sense, but hopefully someone gets the gist of what I'm trying to ask. Thanks.

Tyler Underwood is not one of the scholarship players. He is a walk on. In some cases, a player on a team that is currently a walk on is given a scholarship if that scholarship has not been filled. In Illinois case, there are a few open rides for the upcoming season if my memory serves me right. A team can give that free ride to a walk on, but I think that Tyler's parents can afford tuition for him. Illinois has 13 scholarship players each season.

Also click on Illini Basketball at the top of the page. Then find the scholarship grid. It tells you where we stand currently and projects the roster spots for the next few years.

I really wish this announcement was earlier in the day. It's gonna be a long day.

I know Tyler Underwood is not on scholarship, which is why I wrote "So for example, if Tyler Underwood was on scholarship". I'm not asking these question as they pertain to Illinois this year (or any year) but in general. I'm also not asking about giving a free ride to a current walk-on. I'm asking if someone is already on scholarship, can they choose to pay their own way and give up the scholarship to open it up for a new recruit. So back when Doug McDermott was playing at Creighton and assuming he was on scholarship, could he have not used a scholarship his senior year to allow his dad to recruit fill that scholarship spot with a recruit? And if so, what would the timing have to be on giving up that scholarship so that signing someone into it during the recruiting process wouldn't be considered over signing? Hopefully that is a little clearer.
