My assumption is that if he can’t beat out the guards on this team for minutes, he isn’t going to be a 1st round pick, and probably wouldn’t be regardless of the program.
I can’t think of many guards who convinced NBA scouts that they should use a first round pick, who couldn’t convince their college coach that they should start.
I suppose if it has more to do with being the primary ball handler that would matter, but I thought he was a bit more of a combo guard.
Sometimes they draft off potential. I remember Marvin williams was the #2 pick in 2005 and he came off the bench for UNC
Miller is the real deal. 1 and done. one step above Ayo at the same age. This is our must get. We must get Adam Miller and he is going to start.

That’s true, there are a few guys like that, but the vast majority of them are 6’10”+. The only guard I can think of who didn’t start and went in the 1st round is Devin Booker. (He is 6’6”)
With all due respect to the young men trying to resurrect this program, they won’t likely resemble the roster of the 2014-15 UK squad, the vast majority of whom have suited up in the NBA.

Agreed on the last point, which is why I don't think he is a 1 and done...he is exactly a combo guard sharpening his PG skill set. This will get him to the show, just not convinced a 6-3" CG stud would automatically be a first rounder is all. I hope he comes here and proves me wrong, I will gladly state after we go the dance yet again, that he carried us as a stud PG and deserves to be a 1st rd draft in that position.
Corey Maggette was a non starter who was a Lottery pick, but he wasn't a guard

LOL. Adam Miller and his "camp" aren't concerned with Ayo going pro. What a silly idea. Yes, but he likes Kentucky and Duke. Those team wouldn't have anyone nearly as good as Ayo on their team. Sometimes our fans genuinely concern me with their thinking. Adam Miller will go through the process just like anyone else that has talent like his. He wants to make sure Illinois is the right opportunity. I am convinced by all I have heard he will be here, but that isn't a done deal.
Well that's interesting to hear about Miller. I was under the impression that he was waiting until the Spring

FWIW, On The Drive w/ Tay and Piper yesterday, Joe Hendrickson said (regarding Adam Miller) that both schools (ILL and ASU) seem to feel really good about where they’re sitting. And that he hears a lot out of different folks in his camp that seem to contradict (I.e., some family member may say they want him close, someone else says they want to be out in Arizona). He did ultimately say that he thinks the most likely scenario is that he ends up in Champaign, but it definitely sounds like a hotly contested recruitment at the moment.
Boy I hope you're right. I would feel better if he just publicly commits and then signs on November 13th. Certainly, a lot of smoke or O&B Kool Aid in that direction.
