I don't think any of those were ever serious commitment targets. Did any of them even pay an unofficial visit?
In what way were they not serious targets? If you mean because they didn't reciprocate interest then you are correct.
If you mean because the staff wouldn't have loved many players that went to other schools you are wrong.
Staff liked Henry enough to have visit and offer while Griffin was blowing up in Kansas.
Staff loved Iggy who's going to Michigan.
Staff was trying to get in with De Souza who's going to Kansas.
Staff did indeed want Zion Griffin but apparently he didn't think he was shown enough "love".
Anybody remember Hinton? Nolley's teammate who we actually offered before Nolley? He's going to freaking Houston.
No the sky isn't falling and when you cast a wide net you're going to offer a lot of kids that aren't going to come to Illinois.
I thought from the beginning our first 1-2 classes would need to come mostly from the region as Brad Underwood rebuilds the program's prestige. A surprise year and ncaa tournament birth his first year at Illinois would do that and I don't think it's unrealistic.
