Don't you think when we're cut off someone's list, or they commit elsewhere, that's a firm "No" (Aaron Henry - and others)?

Seems like Zion Griffin gave us a pretty firm "no". But yes, folks need to calm down. This class will come together just fine.

I would agree, yet extend it to 3 of them...with resources spent, plan in place for style of play, and time for getting commits to actually pull the trigger, then I would say we need 3 from this group or its a bust.:chief:

Bust in what sense? While I want as many of the recruits as possible, a single commitment by either Ayo or Castleton would contribute significantly to the strength of the team next year. That is not a bust. They are quality players that would get playing time right away.

I don't think any of those were ever serious commitment targets. Did any of them even pay an unofficial visit?

I agree with you. Most of the top targets are still available.

Just noting that some swings and misses have happened. And that's ok unless we have turned in to Kentucky or Duke.

And I forgot Sow and Griffin on my original list. Sow apparently was Illini choice due to the package nature of his recruitment and Griffin was apparently the lack of priority placed on his recruitment by the Illini staff.

None of the ones I listed will matter if the guys successfully recruited do what they are capable of doing.

In what way were they not serious targets? If you mean because they didn't reciprocate interest then you are correct.

If you mean because the staff wouldn't have loved many players that went to other schools you are wrong.

Staff liked Henry enough to have visit and offer while Griffin was blowing up in Kansas.

Staff loved Iggy who's going to Michigan.

Staff was trying to get in with De Souza who's going to Kansas.

Staff did indeed want Zion Griffin but apparently he didn't think he was shown enough "love".

Anybody remember Hinton? Nolley's teammate who we actually offered before Nolley? He's going to freaking Houston.

No the sky isn't falling and when you cast a wide net you're going to offer a lot of kids that aren't going to come to Illinois.

I thought from the beginning our first 1-2 classes would need to come mostly from the region as Brad Underwood rebuilds the program's prestige. A surprise year and ncaa tournament birth his first year at Illinois would do that and I don't think it's unrealistic.

Can someone please translate this post into English for me? Sorry for being dense.

Replace 'ho shad and' with 'he should' or 'you should'.

Talk to text or auto-correct most likely....

Typing on an iPad, which often has a mind of its own, didn't check before posting.

Yes, sub ho shad with he should or go ahead. . .

The other stuff was regarding his ov to Blacksburg, Va Tech. I'd understand if a recruit was getting an official visit to USC, UCLA, or a blue blood. Otherwise I'm wondering, why not announce, assuming you know where you want to go.

Thanks icengineer for translating :D

I don't know. Underwood going to close him or Underwood going to pitch him one last time? Hoping for the former. Go ILLINI

Hope we can nail the commitment tonight. Still think Cadtleton has a crush for the gators and they will not offer. Time to move on to the better fit.

Castleton already cut the gators bro. It's us or Michigan... Seems like national guys think it's Michigan but many feel no one really knows and that's just speculation. Hoping BU locks it down

Regarding the golf outing, a message was sent last week letting participants know that Coach Underwood would not be participating due to a "recruiting commitment."

Wonder if that was requested by Castleton?

Man I really wish I could know how recruiting pitches go. If I could have a super power being a fly would be a pretty good one.

Me too I would kill to be able to know what goes on behind the scenes with recruiting players. Has been something that has always fascinated me and is probably why I'm addicted to recruiting websites so much!

For those of us who have never used twitter, Snapchat, et al, or just me, what is a filter?

It's a background image you can add to your pictures, almost a layer... while my experience has been limited, you used to have to pay by a geographical area for people to be able to access and use it, almost lime drawing an invisible fence around an area.

Lots of groups do it, but they are not free.
