Huh? OA visits and a commitment date is announced the same night? How can that be anything but good signs?

The way I read it is that Castleton agreed to make a decision immediately following his Michigan visit. He may be an Illinois lean, but as long as he takes that visit, anything can happen. If he chooses MI, he has to decide quickly or the spot could be taken by THT who is just waiting on paperwork. My guess is Illinois, but it's not a done deal unless that visit gets canceled.

If you are Conditt, the focus on Castleton probably doesn't make you feel like much of a priority.

He more or less officially committed tonight, which is what he had actually already done with the staff in the previous home.

As I've been saying on this board, going to be very interesting to see what happens with Conditt. They wanted Castleton to commit first and theyre likely tonight get their wish.

Is this a... silent verbal?! *GASP*

Castleton and THT have nothing to do with each other at Michigan.

What paperwork would THT be waiting on? He has already taken an OV, so we know he has taken the SAT/ACT and his transcripts are in order. It's not the signing period, so no one can actually sign anything yet.

A rather smug statement...."I'm going to be able to come to Michigan if I want to."

Good lord, give him his due. Earning high major scholarship offers takes a lot of talent and effort. It's a big deal to these young men. Not sure it's saying much in any case --he probably just doesn't have a formal offer based on paperwork processing, and is wording it that way for that reason.

Don't be to stressed. Staff has put in the work on those two guys, as well as many others. Trust them.:shield:
I really like this staff and the effort they put into recruiting since they've been hired. To be fair, I'm pretty sure I said the same thing about JG and staff at the beginning, but I am pretty excited about the renewed hope we have at this point.

I'm not particularly stressed right now, and I think we are all just champin at the bit to get this ball rolling. Personally, I'm really excited to see the product the staff puts on the court this fall - and if it's what we think it can be, the recruitin will take care of itself.

In the meantime, I like your optimism and I've got my fingers crossed that a few of these young men buy into what BU and Co are selling. Things could be rockin' in the hall again!

When the product on the court is weak it is difficult to sell. Other schools are destinations for players, Illinois hasn't been for a long time.

You make a very good point and one that I was also in line with but it seems that schools that have not been doing well lately still seem to recruit well. LSU has not been doing very well the last few years and yet Will Wade has recruited a very good class. I am sure there are others. Heck, even Illinois got 2017 Illinois Mr. Basketball. I think there are some other examples of schools that have not been doing well lately but have had good recruiting but I have cold and my brain is a little fuzzy (fuzzier).

Should be a stressful weekend: Ayo visits WF and Landers visits VT.

Ayo's been as cool as a cucumber WRT his recruitment. I wouldn't worry even a bit about him getting swept off his feet and committing on the spot. Nolley I'm not as sure about.

I don't know how this may affect any of the players we are recruiting but former four-star recruit Jared Ridder will transfer from the Xavier Musketeers. The Missouri State Bears are the heavy favorites to land the talented small forward. I know that some of the people we are recruiting are or were being recruited by Xavier. I just don't remember who. Again, I have a cold and am kind of fuzzy.

Side note: Missouri State also just picked up Grant Gelon former Indiana player, a 6' 5" 195 pound SG from Crown Point, Indiana. He played sparingly as a freshman at Indiana. He transferred to State Fair Community College for his sophomore season. Nice pick up in just a couple of days for this mid major school

Mo State has already landed him. Check Ridder's twitter.
