Wake Forest the 29th.
And I'd bet Xavier will get one. They've been hanging around too much to not be told they're at least getting an official.

Do you think WF has a shot? Reading their board, you'd think Ayo was a done deal to WF.

Conventional wisdom all along has been Illinois and Xavier but Wake has certainly got a great class going and all they need is a pg. I'm sure Manning and Wake will be pressing hard next weekend.
But if you're asking me, all I can say is I have no idea where Ayo ends up. Everybody seems to think he's a done deal to them.

Hope theirs is the 7th and we get last crack.

Its us and Xavier. Always has been. That won't be changing.

I doubt #1 as well but just seeing recruits talk like this keeps the hope alive :thumb:

Give me Ayo, Castleton and Nolley please

According to the 247 class calculator, a class of Ayo, THT, Nolley, and Castleton would give us 59.16 pts, which is currently second only to Arizona (at 61.63).

If there is a better class even remotely available to us, then there must be a surprise in store.

1. Danny Manning -- National Player of the year; Kansas pedigree; NCAA Tourney MVP
2. ACC Basketball --- #1 basketball conference in the US
3. Wake academics --- a premiere non-Ivy institution
4. Campus life --- have you seen the WF campus? Gorgeous!!

Now, I'm not sure of Ayo's priorities, but I'd say Wake has a chance. But I'm hoping geography, home state, and style-of-play take precedent. Go Illini!

I agree w/your assessment. Think we've gained significant ground as to his ideal basketball situation. Castleton knows he's on the clock. At least a 50/50 shot (WAG) this could break our way. No inside info.

Quote that stood out in talking to Castleton: #Illini "showing me a lot of love. I'm actually a priority...Some schools just say it."

The above tweet from Piper pretty much confirms my assertion that UF is not ready to accept a commitment as of today. He just doesn't fit what they desperately need.

I am hopeful that his upcoming visit to Purdue falls short in comparison to us and he commits shortly after. I honestly believe UF could be all but eliminated.

If we finished at that point level, it would be like 17th in last year's class. So temper those expectations.

That said, it would be a GREAT class for us considering the talent level and fit level for Underwood. Combine them with the current talent on the team and it's easily the most "talented" team of his head coaching career.

First, I very much doubt we end up with that class. I do think we get Ayo, one of Nolley/THT, and one of Castleton/Conditt. That alone is a pretty good class. But the dream scenario is just that -- a dream scenario.

That said......whether it's the #3 class, the #9 class, or the #13 class, it's a terrific class for us. A 5-star PG, two top-50ish wings, and a versatile top-100 big -- that's exactly the sort of foundational class that Coach Underwood can build a program on (particularly when you add in Mark Smith and the other 2017 kids).

The great thing about the quote Kedric posted is that whoever this unnamed recruit is, it sure sounds like at least he's planning on committing here. My guess is that it's Nolley.

Oh, I'm not saying I think we'll end up with that class. I'm just saying that, since that isn't a number 1 class, we have some reason to believe that the group of recruits currently talking aren't just the usual suspects mentioned around here.

Ohio State is off the Schneid, with the commitment of Jaedon LeeDee, per the usually twitters.

I've been wondering if they've been waiting in the wings for THT and/or Finke as other schools fill their classes around them. Probably not though.

It's possible.

I think it's more likely that a kid like Nolley (or whoever the source is) is very optimistic about what the combination of him, Ayo, THT, and Castleton or Conditt would mean. In their mind, it's the top class in the country.

We'll see I guess.

Bingo! Not likely that the kid plugged everyone into the 247 Calculator before he said that. It was just a confidence thing.

However, it is a FANTASTIC statement. Like someone said, obviously doesn't mean everyone is on board, but at least they seem to be having some discussions of playing together.

Except for us, because we are the most snakebitten, nutpunched fanbase in NCAA basketball.
