Just speculating but..........
I believe that insider is likely Frank Cusumano....who is truly a solid St. Louis metro sportscaster and insider/resource. And to be fair, Frank's other comment about "announcing soon" pertains to Kern --- and not to Nesbitt.

Having grown up in the Metro East, I am well aware (and thoroughly annoyed by) Cusamano. I didn't know that's who they were referencing and the comment makes more sense if the "committing soon" isn't referring to someone else.
I guess that's what happens when we're only given a small snapshot of a larger conversation.
Hopkins, Nesbitt, Goode and MAC to go along with this years class would be unreal. Trying to not get too excited but this program is rolling regardless!!
After Miller, Curbelo, Hawkins, and Lieb; following that up with Mac, Nesbitt, and Goode would be amazing. Anyone they add after that point would be fine but Hopkins would be exceptional. That’s literally a top tierfull roster in just 2 classes.
In 2022-23 I could see a lineup of:
Jr Curbelo
Jr Miller
So Nesbitt
So Hawkins
So Mac
Backups: Goode at guard and Lieb at Center (plus Hopkins at the wing if we get him too).
Well also still have BBV and Hamlin on the roster at that point as seniors. That’s a team I would be almost excited to watch as our current team!

Assuming we get a couple of our current Top 100 targets this fall, I'll be tempted to say that our recruiting has nearly recovered from from the Weber/Groce regimes. More importantly, we'll be back where we belong as a consistent and legitimate Top 10 national power. (And when you think about it, that's a pretty strong statement given we haven't played in an NCAA tournament since 2013.)
B Hopkins looks like a player that can develop well. Has nice size and frame to add muscle. Kentucky not a great place to develop as system is geared towards one and done top 10 recruits.
I don’t want to skip 2021-22. Front court of Giorgi, BBV, Cole, MAC, Hopkins, Jermaine, and Lieb. BackCourt of Adam, Curbelo, Hutch, Grandison, Goode, and Nesbitt. Lots of pieces in this roster if it really happens and can lose some and still be pretty strong. Believe Mac is most important piece not confirmed but development of current roster could reduce that need. Would be surprised, however, If we didn’t see some transfers after this year. Going to need some different offensive and defensive systems to capitalize but looking forward to seeing them.
You might be right, but people don't choose Kentucky to develop to begin with. They choose the path that gets them into the NBA as fast as possible.
Watched some of Hopkins’ tape. Much bigger/stronger than Nesbit. Originally I was thinking they played the same position but can easily see them both on the court at the same time. Point being, I don’t think taking one would scare off the other.
My best player comp would be Jawun Morgan, who absolutely killed us because we didn’t have anyone to match up with him. I think he will be a great college player but not sure I see a Kentucky or other blue blood level type player. He’s probably going to go to Kentucky but I think a program of our level is a better fit for him. Would be thrilled to get him.

Another guy who has a pretty solid track record also put memphis but at a medium. I don't know, I think Nesbitt is still up in the air and not sure of where he wants to go. I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed back his commitment date if he isn't

I think he knows and is telling all schools what they wanna hear. Reminds me of the Massey recruitment on the football side.

Commitment video has been made. He will be committing on Thursday.
Because each school will leak info in some form, sometimes by offering plan B the next day. Also can make video will multiple endings. Feel good but still put our odds at 40% against the field.

CBs were trending our way, now a few have gone Memphis.
As we get closer, should we assume those new Memphis ones are a good indication Memphis is in the driver’s seat?
