Kids make mistakes....especially when being pressured by family. Wow....glad none of you were my parents. Not very forgiving.

And....you’ve already lost any relationship with Simeon. If Miller asks back, and we say no, we will be DONE in Chicago and we won’t have helped ourselves in Peoria.
BU won't let that happen.

My old school mind says - Just get TyTy Washington - back to a "top 10" recruiting class. We'll be OK building for a team that is always in the top 25 and the dance

What's this even mean? Every player out there has their own set of circumstances EJ and Burnett have nothing to do with Miller's and why some people don't want him back.

Frankly I wasn't incredibly high on acquiring Burnett after he moved on one semester in. Is that alright with you?

It's a far more complex conversation than just saying "well all transfers should be lumped in together".

And it's not just about the fact he decided to transfer it's how he just went out the back door surprising everyone around him.

Not sure how you trust somebody again after that.
Larry King did. Oh, wait. Forget it.

If you win they will come.

TJD has the full court press on Franklin. I think he thinks Illini is best for his future but is torn between friends/ loyalty and what he thinks is best for him.
A good friend would say he should be an Illini

JMO but I'd rather that door shut on Miller the damage is done here. The rest of the team can't worry about Miller pouting if he isn't "getting his".
I would take him back in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t ask him to come back, but if he asked to stay, that’s a huge Yes!

I don’t know why Miller entered the portal. Some on here are convinced they knew it was going to happen based on some TV shots of the bench during some games. Based on how it happened, reports of how some in his “camp” were not happy, and fresh off a disappointing loss, I’m inclined to believe he was getting bad advice and after not seeing his family for some time succumbed to their pressure and entered the portal. Is that really what happened? I have no idea. But if he indeed is thinking of trying to come back, I have to think that is coming from him not from his family or camp. So if he’s willing to admit he made a mistake and reach out to try to repair what he’s done, which can’t be easy, then I’m more than willing to welcome him back if BU and the team are willing to. And I have to think that the team will have a say in this.

For anyone looking for Luke Goode video, just watched this on Youtube:

Love the stroke. Will need to speed up his release in college but his body control in awkward lift positions is promising once he cleans up some of his footwork at UI. Add some strength and this guy could be a fantastic shooter.
Love this...seen too much of this type of shooter with Iowa or Wisconsin on his jersey.

ummmm, no. 1) I think it depends on why he entered the portal. 2) Is he going to threaten to quit every time he doesn't get his or his family's way? 3) Does the team want him back?
In order: 1) Who cares. 2) He very well might, but you take that risk. 3) That’s Underwood’s call and his job to mend fences (if they even need to be mended).

And to elaborate on 1)—After this season, during an unprecedented pandemic where these guys sacrificed everything for our entertainment and love of sport, they get all the grace I have and then some.

Agree. What did we do to damage the relationship? One of their guys was just a first team AA, won the Cousy award and is in all likelihood a first round pick.

Their other guy was a starter on a 1 seed, and got great exposure on the 2 highest rated CBB games outside of the tournament plus a nationally televised beat down of Michigan.

If they aren’t happy with that I don’t think we should waste time jumping through any more hoops. Particularly with the new rules where incoming HS kids can just leave but any incoming transfers would have to sit out a year if they did. Plenty of good players out there. I don’t see a need to bend over backwards for a program that most likely won’t routinely send their top kids to us anyways.

If BU wants him back, I'm fine with that. But the idea that you're not forgiving if you're hesitant is ridiculous. If I have an affair with my secretary I'd hope to get forgiveness from my wife, but you can damn well be sure I'm getting a new secretary as well.

That's how I see this. If the circumstances that led to him entering the portal aren't changed, then I wouldn't want him. Not because I'm not forgiving, but because I'm prudent. It's not fair to the rest of the team to have a guy who might dash on you in December because those around him aren't happy with his place on the team.

I don't believe that we're in any sort of desperate situation requiring a "reach" so I'll take the BU judgement on this without hesitation.

I’m looking for a secretary. Can you DM me her number?

You lost me at the beginning, middle, and end of this post.

Juiceman just means we lost out on Chicago kids. It was wrong of Ace to walk out unannounced, and I'm sure the locker room was very solemn. I agree with both sides of the argument. AM is a teenager and makes mistakes, so I'd he should return. I also believe he had a bad attitude in the program and deserves to take the fall for what he did behind BU's back. It's just kinda sad, but the transfer market is fluid as well as recruiting, and it'll work out

I agree Ked overhypes things, but I tend to listen to the small nuggets he gives given he is speaking directly to families. Also he said Podziemski and his family just returned from a vacation. Little nuggets like that. Provides context on what's going on in the background which is all you can really ask for

Armaan Franklin reposted Lander and Geronimo's announcement that they're coming back. Interpret that however you want.
Durham’s as well.

If I had to guess, they might be generally unhappy about a non-Chicago kid (Belo) getting more of a spotlight than a Chicago one (AM). It's not necessarily logical. It probably also doesn't take into account the fact that there's only so much the staff can do to highlight a particular player and actual play on the court ultimately determines who gets local and national attention.

If I had to guess further, there might have been an explicit or unstated expectation that Miller would be groomed as the face of the program following Ayo (especially with Chin on our staff). That's clearly what's best for MIF. Now that it seems unlikely to happen, MIF might feel like we didn't keep up our end of the bargain. Again, not necessarily entirely logical or reasonable, but certainly understandable from their perspective.
Given most of us on here don't know, and we can therefore only speculate --- I think you nailed it. Totally logical.
