Yeah, not saying players won’t use it, but I still
think numbers will decrease if seasons return basically to normal. That said, I have no idea if Hutch or Grandy will be back next year. But I do think if season goes off without a hitch then odds are at least slightly greater that they leave than they were for TF or DMW. Having had the “senior experience” think they’re more likely to be ready to move onto their career.
Depends if the new career pays as much as NIL.

Do we have a legitimate shot with Schutt? Duke and UNC seem to be getting involved, which makes me nervous.

I think Brad just said recently that he prefered an older team. If a contributor wants to come back you have to consider it. The roster gymnastics is going to give us all heartburn for the foreseeable future.
Just gonna have 3 years of smaller recruiting classes. Actually might even out with all the transferring projected with the one time free transfer. So really probably minimal impact from either rule for the next 3 years. But that 4th year from now will be two classes losing eligibility at once. Should be an insane class of 2025

You’re 100% right but he’ll get more long term here than they can offer remember what it was like to watch Illini play in the United Center in the early to mid 2000’s players come and go there he can be part of something much bigger here
Man, I wish this was true.

I’d like to see the top Illinois high school players stay home, but the idea that you can’t leave a legacy at Duke is silly. Sure you might have to win a national championship and/or make it to the pros to do it. And leaving a legacy as a home grown player at Illinois might be easier than Duke, but hope they’re not making that part of their pitch — come to Illinois and you don’t have to win a NC or make it in pros to leave a legacy. And if he wants to go into coaching later, Chicago area and Duke make sense — he can follow in former “Chicagoans” Coach K and Scheyer’s shoes.

All due respect you may be right but I think being a part of building something at Illinois would be more appealing than getting on the bandwagon at Duke and our alumni base and real fans not bandwagon fans dwarfs theirs

I think there’s more fandom around anyone staying in their home state. I don’t know about the legacy side of it, but I feel like fans in general give home town kids a greater benefit of the doubt.

I also don’t think BU and staff is selling anyone on “you don’t have to win a championship” to leave a legacy. We are trying to upsell the program, not down sell it

BU is absolutely about winning a National Championship at Illinois and that's what they're telling recruits.
