Apologies if this has been posted...but after reading 0440's "someone like Monte" comment...I got excited and started watching some clips.

Also apologies for the source....but lmao at the potential scUM schadenfreude!

Forward to :46 sec and watch his perimeter defense!! A solid 15-20 seconds of D! Impressive.

Isn’t that Reggie Bass he is guarding?

Counterpoint is you want to prove you can get kids to the league after one year in college. This would attract more elite talent to C-U. There is no world where I’d rather have Rodgers than Whitmore. That’s not a knock against Rodgers-he is going to be a helluva college player. Whitmore is just an elite talent who is on a slightly different level.
I just did a little google research (not my strong suit). I found no one and dones on the 2016 Villaova National Championship team roster. I did find four players who stuck around long enough to win another championship in 2018 who were then drafted into the NBA. That 2018 team was so smooth. Just seemed to do everything right. So there is something to be said for talented players who may not have lottery pick talent but stick around, learn their roles, and learn the system. And I would certainly be satisfied to recruit at 'Nova's level.

While true, Brunson not going pro surprised a lot of people.

Brunson was shorter, but was 22nd coming out of high school and started for the national champions. Nobody can predict with 100% certainty how many years whitmore will play college ball. There are a ton of factors and how much they matter vary person to person.

Let’s not focus on one-and-domes when they are still high schoolers. High end talent is needed if we want to seriously contend for a championship.

I would argue that during lean years, the glue guy becomes the go-to offensive guy. Not sure we haven’t had players that COULD have been glue guys during those years, had the team been better overall
I could've been a glue guy....missed my decade.... I had great form.
