A visit that he has long announced and the staff was aware of. He's a 2023 prospect. It's early. We should want him to go on a few visits, come out of it still leaning Illini, and commit in January.
speak for yourself. I want him to assemble a shrine to the Illini is his home, and try to steal snippets of Underwood's hair. But not in a weird way.

You're in the vast minority wanting that scenario.

98% of this board clicked on the recruiting thread secretly hoping that sometime around midnight Fears tweeted "F&$k it, I'm going to Illinois."

Looks like a hostage proof of life photo. Just needs todays news paper.
While I’m sure the visit went well and he was laughing/smiling/engaged for the whole thing, this really does look like a hostage photo.

Or an awkward family photo.

“So you want the jersey on too? Okay…Will we be on the court at least since I’m holding a ball? No? In this atrium? Okay, you’re call. CHEEEEEE…oh you don’t want us to smile? Hmmm okay”

What’s the biggest weakness in his game? Struggles shooting. Already have Rodgers. Need guys that can fill it up from deep. Staff wanted to see him progress from deep in the last year and he just hasn’t.
And yet he’s still a top 25-30 player in the class? I’m not getting this, don’t you take that every day and twice on sundays regardless of long range proficiency?

I guess once you've had some success it buys you the luxury of patience. The Arizona game shows why you need people who can shoot at most positions in today's game.

I'd be curious what contingency (or better) options the staff thinks they have, of course.

I’m assuming they must feel like Boswell is a real possibility then. Can Dai Dai shoot?

Thanks for the info.

Michigan was supposed to be a top-5 team with a bunch of fantastic recruits who are great at everything but shooting, and that has been a wake-up call.

I trust Underwood on this regardless of the ranking.

BU loves shooters. Look at this team. This is what he wants. He is very conscientious about roster construction and how people got together. Unlike Groce and Weber when they were here.

That would now be the priority
I’m not questioning BU or the great 0440…. But how many 6’5” - 6’7” wings does the team need? Are we just going to have 5 wings who can shoot playing together? Seems to me that Fears is the point guard we will need to replace/back up Belo. Belo can’t shoot, why does the staff feel we need to see that from Fears?

Well Fears can’t dribble, facilitate or rebound as well as Curbelo. Also gonna have sophomore Epps and Harris, who aren’t 6’5-6’7 wings. Fears also thinks he needs to start from day one. Don’t see it
