You really need 5 good guards/different skills to do well in our conference...we were a little short for some games earlier between covid and injuries...Cohawk, DW, and Plummer are not point guards...we have Frazier and Curbelo this year....
get ur done. Next year will be fantastic...guardelicious!
I think Harris and Podz are wings, Andre, Epps and Kylan run the point and nobody ever gets winded. Try to keep up with that !

Coach BU mentioned his exquisite coffee is what is giving him the big smile. There seemed to be some code in that, like a hidden easter egg in a Marvel movie.

I'm not one to jump to conclusions, it just seemed a little odd and telegraphic.
Coffee = Kofi gonna have a career game?
Coffee = Tastes better just after a silent verbal from a certain someone?

…That’s all I got…

Rodgers will play at least 20 min a game next year. He’s that good, his body is college ready now, and we are losing players at his position (3/4).

Epps looks like a rich man’s Trent on offense. Also college ready body.

Harris reminds me of Luther Head. Also college ready body if he’s as wiry strong as people are saying.

How’s this for a starting 5:

Curbelo
Mystery 2 guard
Rodgers
Melendez
Kofi

Provided mystery 2 guard has some length, this team is a freaking problem for anyone.
The athleticism and length at the 3/4 goes up exponentially. They would be a terror in transition, difficult to keep off the glass, have more one-on-one playmaking ability, and could switch a lot more on D.
Podz. He is my favorite freshman and I want him to be this.

Throw in a transfer guard too!
I don't think so. We sit on what we got while keeping track of what's out there and if someone bolts then trans in. Just seems awful pat to me

I think that might put the '22 class as our best ever if it happened. Or at least pretty darn close.
I think it goes in the pretty close to, but not better than the 1986 class of Anderson, Smith, Bardo and Gill. My recollection was that Nick was a top 10 recruit, Smith around 47, Bardo around 70, and Gill barely top 100.

It is just incredible to me how far we have come in recruiting in just a couple years. We couldn’t fill a roster with P5 players and now we don’t have enough spots to fit all the studs who want to play here. Thank you, Ayo, Trent, DMFW, Coach U, Geoff, Chester, and Tim. This is a great time to be an Illini fan!

Finke was in that class too before switching to just football

Yeah, I hope Obelix is still around posting under another name to enjoy it.

Or BrooksTaylorFan, or LincolnIlliniFan. Or if you wanna go REALLY far back, Orange Fever and Illini4EverJP.
There are a number, but I remember Obelix because he was questioning BU's recruiting chops because he had only brought in one high caliber player - Ayo. A few days later Kofi committed, and I don't think he has posted since.
I actually liked a lot of Obelix' takes, but he was wrong on that one.
