JFL (son of Marcus’ sister) should turn pro. I can’t see what else he needs to show in his game. The local writers LOVED him out of Whitney Young and couldn’t understand how Valpo was his best offer. Hope he gets a shot in the league sooner than later.

No, but they normally don't notmally have real great recruits. It would be awesome to take one from them after all the Illinois recruits they get for football.
The one I can think of was Harrison Barnes. I only remember this because at that time i was comparing him to Jereme Richmond…(who I thought was going to save our program 😕)

If we did recruit Barnes, we had 0 chance from the beginning.

The only Iowa players I can remember us recruiting from Iowa are Peter Jok, Jarrod Uthoff, and Josh Oglesby, but don't remember recruiting any of them very hard.

Iowa has taken some good HS players out of Illinois

Ronnie Lester, Michael Payne, Ed Horton, Joey Range ...

I think the Deon Thomas fiasco hurt them with ILL HS coaches and they dropped off.

We weren't going to get both Payne and Douglas if I remember correctly. They didn't want to play together in college and we chose Bruce Douglas

Probably, but some folks were saying Boswell's a hard lean (to us) late.

Anyone got some James Brown news?
The Morez decision hasn't been made yet, I'm just predicting that it will. He's already better than 4/5 recruits we're after in the 2023 class. If we get Asa Thomas in 23 then maybe that gives him a reason to stay in '24. The staff thinks Thomas will end up 6'9" or 10" at the end of the day. Currently 6'7"

Size, size, SIZE! What these three great years have in common is KOFI--getting better and better. I love the talk of these guards and 6'6" power forwards but we need big and tall. We've shown we can recruit wings and guards, but what performing big man have we gotten in the past five years besides Kofi? Morez and Thomas are on the cusp of being bigs, but I feel that there have to be 6'11'-7'0+ in our future or wis, mich, MSU, Pur et al will pound us.
