There's no way Curbelo isn't going to be a starter.

I'd expect something more like this if somehow everyone stays:

Curbelo/Epps
Skyy/Podz/Harris
Melendez/Goode
Hawkins/Rodgers
Kofi/Dainja
Good point. Messed that one up. I was more after from the most knowledgeable people on here (probably insiders) who they think may be out/transferring. Like Illini0440 said we are going to have players transfer out and probably at least 2-3 the way I see it. I'm not sure BBV, Payne, Lieb, and Hutch help us?!? If we don't get a transfer big and/or if Kofi leaves we probably need to hang on to BBV and/or Payne, but would sure love to see Skyy and a solid transfer big come on over. The problem regarding the transfer big is that if Kofi stays and with Dainja coming over and Hawkins getting better, would they still transfer over knowing playing time is limited?

Kind of disagree, Reeves looks like the type of player we lack. A big guard who can shoot but also drive and create.

He's going to need to add strength based on the video but his ball handling and quickness means he'll be able to get to the hoop in ways the 21-22 version was lacking. His BasketballReference defensive metrics are alarming but there is some team defensive noise there. Tough to discern how to distribute the blame.

Skyy/Epps/Transfer guard or Belo
Podz/Harris
RJ/Rodgers
Goode/Hawkins
Kofi/Dainja

Dainja can ply some 4, Rodgers will play some at the 4, add in a transfer big as well
One big question is - what happens with Kofi?

* Enter the portal, not enter the portal
* Go with an agent for the NBA, not go with an agent
* Stay an Illini for another year, not stay an Illini
* Go with a European team, not go with a European team
* Etc.

Seems we watched this for several months prior to the season starting, holding the roster in suspense. Standby for more to come...

He will for sure enter the draft again. That’s been known since he came back last summer.

Tom Crean says hello.:p
Hello, Tom. Tom Crean could tell players they needed to go somewhere else if they ever wanted to see the court again, but he could not break a four-year scholarship commitment.

There seems to be an assumption that if Coach wants Lieb gone, then Lieb must leave. Not so. The scholarship commitment was for four years. If Lieb wants to stay and get an Illinois degree, he can do it on an athletic scholarship, whether he plays or not.
That is correct, from my point of view.

But for guys that want to get minutes during games, a coach saying "I don't know that I can get you minutes next season" can motivate a player to move on to a new team. I am NOT saying that this is the case for Lieb, as he may indeed wish to stay anyway. I have no idea, nor is it my business.

What I am saying is that, as an example, guys with dreams of professional play, particularly the NBA (however realistic or not that may appear to us), hearing in April that playing time may not be available next season may decide that their best move is to transfer.

Would look pretty nice replacing Plummer at the 2 spot.
It's the 6'6" that immediately creates an upgrade. Simply cannot go into another season as undersized as we were. Plummer and Trent worked their tails off and I'll always have a special place in my heart for them. Against bigger, more physical backcourts.....their size was just too much to overcome. A guy like this is just what the doctor ordered (if it happens).

Honestly don’t get the Lieb speculation. Everyone including Lieb knew he wasn’t going to see the court until he was an upper classman if then. He has 3 more years if he took a redshirt. 99.9% of us have no clue if has shown anything in practice. I suppose if he’s shown zero improvement in 2 years he could be asked to leave, but that seems unlikely. Now if he wants to leave that’s a different story. As happy as he was to get here, that seems unlikely too but I certainly don’t know the kid.
