No one ever said Skyy would be primary ball handler….there’s a reason they want a veteran ball handler via portal.
First off thank you for all of your input and patience with everyone's neediness haha.. Staff feel good about Shannon filling this role or would we want Ace/other LSU guard/tbd transfer as well for this?

Don't know if I'm going to be crying tears of joy or tears of sadness when Dan refreshes this thread tomorrow...

If someone had told me last Sunday evening, our season's hopes smoldering in the side of the mountain, that I would have spent this much time on a single Loyalty thread the following Friday through Sunday, having such high entertainment value and with no apparent end in sight, I would have been like:

Thank you. Thank you all. :illinois:

I have only one question: is L.A.D. even legal on a Sunday night?

A lot of that is also due to him being off the map due to his ACL.
Regardless; of his injury, but how it effects his ability to drive endlessly and play stifling defense will determine what position he plays and where he lands. He looks to beat his man consistently off the dribble and he is pretty good in the pick and roll OFFENSE. CURBELO, remember Guys- was not a great 3pt. Shooter in High School. He for the most part improved in that area by playing off the others, getting to his shooting spot and letting it fly. A lot of times (UNDERWOOD) and the Illinois staff said he has the core functions and ability to shoot, a variety of shots, if he plays smart and with his teammates in the flow of the offense. Look at Chris Duhon, Patrick Beverley, Rod Strickland, even Kenny Smith and DJ. Stewert formerly off Duke..,all had flashes of brilliance and all of these GUARDS were considered not great 3 pt.shooters; but were looked upon (as they continued), to playing their leading PG roles, would win more games and thrive successfully with the team that they had given their commitment too. I believe Andre Curbelo and Adam Miller will bring us the great play we have been waiting for. From a coaching perspective and a LOYAL FAN....That cares.

No. Dan moves it to the Dark Web, hence the name change.

If Skyy Clark is the primary ball handler next season, Illinois will have a tough year. Hope for a Curbelo return/transfer guard because Skyy is not the player his 5 star rating might suggest.

It is desirable to have a veteran ball handler but it surely feels like Skyy is kind of in that shoe unless TA told him, "Sure we will find a more senior ball handler in case you screw up." LOL.

Turgeon was getting loudly boo’d every time they announced him before games. Fans had been talking crap about him for YEARS. Normally I agree with you but in this case it did play a little role in Marks decision.
Wasn't Turgeon even getting threats and harassed away from the games, too? Sounded seriously over the top.

No one that’s in the portal yet.
Not saying that's what Brad sold to Skyy. But if Belo leaves, it sure looks like from Skyy's angel that there is no incumbent and no serious outside competitors for the PG duty.

The concept of losing Belo and adding 2 guards coming off ACLs doesn’t excite me. I guess what does excite me is that if we lost a player of Belo’s caliber 3 or 4 years ago, our only choice would have been to replace him with a Matic Vessel-type. Today we have to worry about how to make room for all the transfer starters at P-5 teams who want to wear the orange and blue. That’s new and different.

One of the things that basketball does is expose and display on the court one’s basic personality (from Real Life).

Alphas in Life become Alphas on the court. Those more comfortable in the background become good role players happy to let others lead.

Some (and play) live afraid to make a mistake. Others take their mistakes in stride and just keep on doing their thing.

Some guys are conservative. Some are risk takers.

Only those closest to Belo know the kind of guy he really is. But if you can draw any conclusions from his court play and work backwards... then he is a showman and isn’t afraid to push limits. If true, how this impacts his life only he and those closest to him know.

What is clear is that he has a special gift for talent and flair. And if he can learn to channel these in the right direction, then there is no limit to what he can accomplish on the court... and in his Life.

There is no true Illini fan who doesn’t want to see Belo succeed and get past his challenges whatever they might be. Whether it is with the Illini or elsewhere... we wish him the best on his personal journey and we thank him for what he’s already given to the Illini program.

Coach has said it. Guys like Belo don't come along every day.
Well said my brother.
