In terms of team impact, this past year was Ramey's best. Didn't shoot the 3 as well but had a higher effective FG b/c he didn't miss all his 2s. Way lower TO%, best defensive numbers of his career. But he's leaving b/c he didn't like having his role diminished, even though he had a usage that was almost identical to Trent's this year. That is reason to make me hesitant to bring him in.
This. I'd love to snag him, but I don't see him going somewhere for a complementary role.

Ramey would be our starting PG from day one. Not sure he is going to do better than that. If he is scared of freshman Jayden or Skyy then he should go to mid major.

I don't think it's that easy to say that. Ramey only appears to be a better 3 point shooter, but even there he's fluctuated a bit. Of course this conversation is only worth having if both players are interestd.

If you could get 2020-21 Courtney Ramey, you take that in a heartbeat.
Mountain West competition < Big 12 competition

Ramey has also been on NCAA tournament teams every year, experience is there for postseason . (Despite the fact he has not made it to the sweet 16)

for the record, I agree with what you're saying, just feel like Ramey is a slight step uo

Been playing vs. Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech. I would rate that as equal or better than B10 since Baylor won it all 2 years ago and Kansas won last year

Lol. I think you’re right…almost like he had the same cold all his life; and he just couldn’t shake it.

I also thought, nearly every time Zook and Weber spoke they were in need of a lozenge.
I recall that Smith had persistent issues with asthma, though I don’t know if that accounted for his disposition.

I would love to add some upperclassman NCAA tourney experience

PG - Ramey SR
2G - TSJ SR

Our team is very young - without Kofi returning only 20% of minutes from last year and one part time starter

freshman - Ty, Skyy, Jayden, Sencire
Soph -4 - Dain, Luke 4% , RJ 3%
Jr - 3 - Coleman 10% BBV 3% Lieb
SR - Kofi if he returns
BU said he’s not afraid to play freshman so we’ll see.

Disclaimer: My next statement is potentially flawed because of my anti University of Texas bias.

My hang up on Ramey is that he has been stuck in an athletics culture at Texas that somehow combines losing AND entitlement. It’s a strange mix but it’s real. With BU being so culture based (understandably) knowing how Ramey reacts when faced with adversity is going to be paramount. Is he gonna work hard and power through like BU wants? Or does that Texas culture have a hold on him and he’ll just ride it out because “whatever.”

I hope that makes sense. I swear if you live down here or have at any point over the last decade it does.

Skill wise we need dudes who can hit 3s around Kofi. Not just kick outs but your primary handler needs to be able to pull when the defense goes under the ball screen. Even being a threat to hit a reasonable percentage can do it because when you look at the rim and the defense freezes you gain an advantage.

We saw what it looks like this year with Curbelo when teams don’t respect your shot. It doesn’t matter how good of a passer or finisher you are. They will dare you to shoot, and they will win those possessions when you do.

I know Ty has been mentioned as a 4 but in clips it appears that he could guard a 2 and also has good handles. Like his defense in the clips and seems better than the others in that regard. Shooting is an unknown based on comments but seems to finish and rebound. Role to be defined?

I think he can probably play 2-4. I'm hoping we get TSJ or Ramey to start in the backcourt, but with the current roster I actually think Skye-Ty-RJ-Coleman is probably our best lineup, obv. with Kofi at center if we get him back, otherwise probably Dain — or maybe Coleman at 5 and slide Harris, Epps or Goode in there. The length 2-4 of Ty-RJ-Coleman would be pretty nasty.

With Belo going to St John’s, it begs the question what was the mystery news that some may not like but others would?
My assumption is that the mystery news was Belo considering coming back, and he went another way. But committing to SJU the *next day* does seem like a fairly quick turnaround.

I mean the “reports” he was going to St. John’s were around pretty much the minute he put his name in the portal. I think the longer guys keep their name in there, the more “rumors” pop up about potential returns.

I think timing was more coincidental and was probably sparked by people spotting him around CU and it devolving from there.

That timing makes it sound like the other option situation changed or was never what he thought

Goode played more than any other freshman last year. He’s likely to get heavy minutes.

I think when the dust settles Goode will be the first guy off the bench next year. If he's starting that means we whiffed on the 4-5 main transfer targets the staff is currently eyeing.

Again, adding a guard like Ramey and Shannon and we will be a top 5-7 team to start next year*

*I strongly believe Kofi is coming back.
