Serious ? - do you think Hawk would stay then?
I love all the guys on the team, so this tends to be my reaction when discussing new players coming in and taking minutes from current players (thinking specifically and hypothetically of CH and RJ). I worry they may get upset and leave and I generally feel for them because everyone just wants to play as much basketball as they can.

But, I've started telling myself, if a new player comes in and suplants a current player in the rotation, 99% of the time, it's because that's what is best for the team. And the repercussions of upsetting an individual player will have to just be accepted and dealt with down the road. Give me the most talented 6 or 7 players we can get and let the pieces land where they may.

Totally understand, but at some point you want some continuity IMO or we end up as KY/LSU and sometimes a continuous identity becomes a struggle in tourney time. If we were fortunate to land both Whitmore and Nance, I would totally bring Dainja off bench and go fast right out the gates.

WE, Illini fans, are able to now talk about having too many good players- and it’s relating to our team! 🤟🤟🤟 this is truly awesome!!!

I cannot wait for next season!!

If you add some elite-level pieces, guys are going to wind up leaving ... It's just part of the game.

That's not to say it would be Hawkins but if we land who I think we can land, then some guys are really going to contemplate their options ...
It's a new era in college basketball. The portal allows teams to reload each year with an abundance of talent waiting to be picked up. The new portal rule was a major factor in both the retirements of Roy and Jay. Basically, these coaches found the idea of recruiting players to stay at their respective schools to be exhausting. Brad and company seem to relish these new opportunities. It's an exciting time to be an Illini fan.

How elite are we talking? Like Level 2 or 3 Elite?

Uh, IT MATTERS TO ME IF HE STAYS

I agree to a degree. If BU is going to keep advertising our program as a development program....then you can't cast aside those that you recruited to develop. However...if that development is not going as the staff and/or player desires...then you look for other options.

Edit: and you obviously can't turn down certain transfers that want to come play here *cough*CAM*cough*

Tricky, tricky indeed, especially the development program sentiment.

You all know my feelings on CoHawk so no need to beat more dead horses.

Not saying Coleman is leaving if we get anyone but more so just a statement on how college basketball is now a days….players are going to leave every year. I also don’t get all the love for Coleman…..not just from you but from a lot of fans
I thought Cam wanted to be close to home?

Don’t believe everything you read on here
Only downside to Cam, he can't shoot at the clip a lot of other options can. Clearly he is a take, however he is a freak athlete with limited shooting ability. Love the upside and college ready body
