So after yesterday and as we work toward the portal deadline are there any new names or some we have already mentioned that now have a stronger chance to be Illini? I would love to hear something positive about adding some additional talent and experience in our positions of need. Thanks in advance for feedback and I await some new positive info with keen interests!

"The daily recruiting threads will continue until the takes improve. Go Illini"

Thank You Dan!

Considering us Loyalty Loonies can be the kings of strange takes we are going to be here awhile.

@HailtotheChief Dain is not more of a 4.
I heard LaTulip said that they are more 4s than 5s. I've heard that exact thing as well. LaTulip has a good idea that we need a bigger, taller body in the B10. Sure they can play both. I hope we find one. He is listed as a PF. If he aspires to be a pro he needs to be a forward So we disagree that's fine. I hope we add a big body to match up. If there are any we have a chance to add I would love to hear more about it.

Illini in OC

In. The. Alley.
Summary of yesterdays thread:
We all love Kofi and acknowledge his extreme value to the Illini program
We have lack of consensus on the definition of floor and ceiling
We have lack of consensus on Kofi's impact to said poorly defined floor and/or ceiling
We agree Grayson Allen is probably a bastard son of Bruce Pearl
There is no recruiting news o_O

OSU had good success without a big body and Dain’s 7’7” wing span will allow him to be as effective at rim protection as Kofi. Probably need to play Edey differently but Edey can’t guard him. Must be a reason the NBA teams play 5 out and most of the other conferences don’t have the wide body center.

Also will Edey be able to play more than 20 minutes without Williams to back him up?

I like the direction we are headed. BIG may still be the conference of old school bigs and we may have had the best of the bunch the last 3 years, but we play a 5 out and pull the Eddy’s and Dickinsons away from the basket I think we more than make up for whatever we give up on the other end.

Need one more competent big and a veteran ball handler and, ideally, one more 6’6ish athletic wing and I think we reload next year vs rebuild

I disagree in the idea that we need a bigger and taller guy than a guy that's listed as 6'9" and 250 lbs. Not in today's game. I'd take a guy like Edey in a heartbeat but we don't need to try to get taller guys just because we'll be undersized against him. The goal would be counter using a guy who is more agile and skilled, not by matching up with an old school big that is similar in size.

Edey and Dickinson come to mind. Those will be tough matchups for anyone that plays them. Even with a proven 7 footer, that would still be a tough task.
