When someone says: to win a championship, a great offense is more important than a great defense. What they're probably not saying: defense isn't important.
When someone says: defense wins championships. What they're probably not saying: offense isn't important.
And special teams. All 3 phases really.Wait so you are saying that the National Champions have to be good at offense and defense to win? What a crazy idea.
Just so we’re all clear, approximately how much less could you care? The tournament itself plays defense for you. The pressure, tough shooting environments, officiating. Teams hardly play their typical offense games. But the teams that meet or exceed their typical offense output tend to have better success. Compared to those who muck it up. The tourney itself mucks up games.
But this conversation has dragged on and I don’t wanna take up too much space. My overall point is that I could care less about a transfers defensive abilities when we return 13PPG from a team that was already 30th in offense last season.
Sorry for covering up all the vital recruiting info! By all means. Drop some nuggets!Just so we’re all clear, approximately how much less could you care?
Seemed to work for the '88-'89 team. /sIts okay guys we can let everyone score 90 because we'll score 91
And while this is true and I agree with everything you say, we are talking about one of the best teams in our and NCAA history. The amount of firepower they had, 2005 had, etc is absurd, and objectively, unsustainable in our history.Seemed to work for the '88-'89 team. /s
They scored over 100 eight times (four times in conference, including a delicious 118-94 pasting of Iowa), and between 90-100 five times. Barely missed 90 in a 89-73 dismantling of Michigan in Ann arbor on senior day. I recall thinking to myself often that season that they were atypically defensively promiscuous for a Lou Henson squad. Would have loved to see the tempo-free stats on that team.
And then there were 4. Lot of turnover in college basketball these days
Really didn't see that coming, if true. Thought he would be more likely to just stick it out. But since he would be a grad transfer I also understand getting the degree and searching for some PT
Power forward-Coleman, Luke, potential transferSo our bigs will be Dain, Player TBD, and Lieb.. ?
So Lieb is transferring too?Power forward-Coleman, Luke, potential transfer
Center-Dain, transfer
But that is how you get on the floor for BU...Agreed. I guess I have PTSD from our last three tourney games where we have shot 39% from the field and 23% from three. I’d rather lose scoring 70+ than 53 points. I agree with your points. But given our lack of proven scores on this team. I think it would be foolish to look defense first.
I will finally get to stop hearing Bel Biv Devoe in my head every time someone posts his initials
So Lieb is transferring too?
Dain, Transfer, Coleman in small ball, 5-out lineup, Leib/TransferSo Lieb is transferring too?
To be fair, without Kofi we are completely overhauling the way we play. So the roster needs to fall in line with that.I knew a lot of changes needed to happen with the roster, but yikes this is turning into a complete overhaul.
You don't think Brad has a plan? Do you really think we will end up with 9 scholly players? There is more coming... and soonI knew a lot of changes needed to happen with the roster, but yikes this is turning into a complete overhaul.
Also note that this team, while obviously statistically impressive and the eventual national champion, was often absolutely disgusting to watch.
