Power forward-Coleman, Luke, potential transfer
Center-Dain, transfer
A lot more dominos with guys leaving. It seems we likely have a lot going on not yet public but it would be nice to see some additions with officially 3 more leaving today. We need some experience and leadership to go along with very good talent. Hopefully we should hear something positive soon.

Sarcasm? I know the SW conference isn't the Chicago public league but he was sandwiched between Lidell and the Pickett/Smith/tilmon trio. I'm sure BWest played a stronger schedule when he was there due to Lidell being around.

Is the BBV news a reaction to an imminent addition? Or just general he sees where this is going?
I would guess.....

You don't think Brad has a plan? Do you really think we will end up with 9 scholly players? There is more coming... and soon
You can trust that Brad has a plan but also acknowledge that this overhaul is never in a coach's plan. I don't think Brad was looking at last years team and thinking "I need to get rid of all these guys". Its ok to call out that depth and continuity across classes is important to long term success.

But that is how you get on the floor for BU...
The BBV news is more important… but that defense first strategy has lead to very mediocre post season success for Brad. Good regular season success (ie high floor) but when the tourneys come it doesn’t really work. Evident of his 4-6 ncaa tourney record and no S16s.

Two years ago the team was 8th in AdjO according to Kenpom. They got outcoached and outplayed in one game, but it wasn't because BU was too defensive minded.

I agreed the BBV news is more important...

This transfer portal thing is nuts... crazy how much its changed college basketball

In terms of post season play, its amazing how simple shot making/missing can makes coaches and their strategies look good or bad. Illinois guards for the most part just couldn't shoot when mid March came

80%+ loss in minutes and points per game is the largest this year in DIV I next to LSU.
This most certainly is not ideal but that being said things are very very much different now with the no sit transfer portal. It favors teams like Illinois and other teams were some proven solid players can switch schools, get more exposure, and play right away. With all the minutes, recent success, our staff and conference we should be among the top choices for the better players in the portal. Texas Tech, Nevada, and Arkansas others have done well in it and I think the Illini will too. We may not be able to replace Kofi but I think we will be better in the other roles when this is all over with.

If I'm counting right that's 4 openings WOW.....this offseason is just as crazy as last year, when we needed 3 new coaches...with all the new faces we'll be hoping for major improvement by the 2nd half of the season...it's going to be an interesting ride..

Curious if the insiders have any generic scoop they can share ("Underwood pretty much knows who's coming on board in the next couple weeks", yada yada yada).

Definitely sarcasm. Everyone knows how good the Metro East is. Liddell, Mark Smith, Malachi Smith, Pickett, Goodwin, etc.

One of the great things about ball in Illinois is the intra-State rivalry among regions.

As we know well... Chicago Public League is a thing.

And then, the suburban schools around Chicago are another thing.

Metro East is a region. Deep Southern Illinois is a region.

Quad Cities area... Rockford area...

(in the old days) Quincy was a thing.

Peoria. And other mid-State.

Different styles at times. Different ways to win games. Different size players with different skill sets.

All proud regions within Illinois with great traditions and great rivalries among them when they play each other for State bragging rights.

Everything from small gyms and small towns to big shiny suburban gyms and tough City ball.

We hope that the Beloved always keep strong pipelines to each of these regions while at the same time continuing to recruit the American Southeast, California, and All The World in bringing ‘E-Word’ talent to the Prairie State.

In the State of Illinois... Madness is not just reserved for March. It is all year long. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Loyola got beat by Oregon state only scoring 58 points. And Houston got beat by nova scoring 44 points. Defense gives you a higher floor. But our offensive struggles have been the reasons we haven’t gone further in the tourney. Oregon state put up a solid offensive performance against Loyola. In our last 3 tourney games we have shot 39% from the field and 23% from three. Our defense has given us a chance to win these games. Our offense remains the issue.
Our defense was good, their defense was better... On that day anyway
