Kofi just seems like a guy that some team will be willing to take a late second round chance on based on his size alone. If he manages to impress at the combine so much the better.

Absolutely. When guys like Joshua Primo are getting drafted in the first round, hard to think how Kofi can't land in the back half of the second to a playoff contender.

I think Epps is going to surprise everyone and earn more PT than even the staff is expecting.
I was kind of wondering the same, especially as the season progresses. I’ll be curious to see how things shake out by the end of the season. Who do you all think will gain the most minutes from where they start at the beginning of the year?

I think the popular theory is it would be one or the other, with neither being more likely than both. The presence of one would make it less attractive to the other. These two guys will be able to pick from any number of really good opportunities to play early, often, and win.

As far as the backup PG discussion, I bet they find a graduate type player to provide depth for this season only. With the sheer volume of players in the portal, the game of musical chairs will leave some guys without a seat. The freshman talent we have coming in at that position is going to make it tough to land one of the highly discussed PGs in the portal. Obviously, I'd love to be wrong, but if I were say, Courtney Ramey, I would not want to compete with Skyy and Epps for minutes. By the end of the year, I might be spending a lot of time in my warmups... As scholarships become more scarce, I think we will find an insurance policy.
This is a very good point. As someone else mentioned, finding a solid back up PG, that is more interested in a great master's degree than going pro, could be the ticket.

I’m certain this in in jest. I do understand that.
However, to all of Loyalty scribes…please remove BLieb from the butt of jokes and sarcasm.
The kid was offered a position on this team a few years ago. He’s worked hard. He has a phenomenal attitude. He grinds in practice and makes our team ready and better. He cheers his teammates from the bench constantly. The few minutes he does get on the court, he is prepared and works his !!! off.
I doubt he will ever be an impact player to the extent that is noticeable to the common fan.
But, the kid has done everything that has been asked and he has demonstrated a team/program first mentality.
In my book the kid belongs, is a winner, and a valuable piece of the Beloved.
I just don’t appreciate taking random and unnecessary jabs at a kid that has proudly and loyally done things the right way.
Sorry for the rant….but jam on Iowa, Michigan, or some of the clowns throughout basketball…..but not on Lieb.
Well said.

I disagree. Sure they want playing time but not necessarily more. They transfer to get better, play vs better players and get more exposure or do those things and get closer to home could be a contributing factor. ( Dain, TSJ and Garcia for Minnesota).I am watching Piper and Werner on you tube and they mentioned both Ramsey and Malachi Smith. They are not saying we will get them but we could get them or others from the portal still and they could play starter minutes between the one and two. It's about more than minutes. These good players got minutes where they were
Tough to get more exposure — at least positive exposure — if sitting on the bench. I wouldn’t mind getting an experienced point guard, but I’ll be very surprised if they get one who will add much to the team. I guess we’ll see.

Thats the reason I hope Grandison returns......not a true PG but he would add some experience and stability to the back court that could help the youngsters mature and gain some valuable knowledge and experience especially the first half of the year

There is no one on this site who can predict the number of minutes the players will get next year. Every time someone new enters the portal someone on here projects his minutes.

Yes it was in jest didn’t understand putting his name out there and saying zero minutes. My apologies to Mr Lieb and this board.

Yeah…but it’s for poops & giggles my friend!! It’s fun to speculate.

If it’s not for you, that’s ok, we all love da Nogs!!! We can still be friends 🤗

Yeah, not easy. Gotta find someone who’s better than RJ/TSJ/Ty bringing the call up the court a few minutes a game and at the same time, willing to play just 10-15 minutes/game as a back up to a frosh.
Not likely. Either find somebody not as good (but good enough, e.g., Plummer) who is willing to back up or a star that you are willing to take away mins from others. Or, nobody.

Even professional prognosticators are often wrong in a wide variety of fields. So why do people do it? Why do people get paid to do it? Why do people listen to it/read about it? Could it be that people have fun with predicting and debating predictions while we anxiously await whatever it is we're prognosticating about (be that sports, politics, entertainment, stocks etc.)?

I kind of tune out the majority of these projected minutes breakdowns because they're not really my jam but I get why people get into them. It's something to do and obsess about while we wait for the games.

What if I told you this is all a simulation?

What if I then told you the simulation was being run by Indy Illini Fan, 0440, and LvilleILL, and that we are all pawns in their personal chess game of predictions?

Sam McLaurin started every game for Coastal Carolina in 2012. 30mpg, 10ppg, 7.rpg
for Illinois in 2013 he started 15. 20mpg, 3.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg.

For guys playing in lower division 1 schools, the attraction of suiting up for a top twenty team in one of the best conferences in America with a chance to play in the second weekend is pretty cool. Not sure if that guy is out there at PG, but I'm guessing one is.

I'm comfortable not adding someone since the addition of Shannon. Grandy returning would give me a bit more comfort.

I can see projecting minutes for players we have but don't see a reason to project minutes for players we don't have. I would like to see Nance become an Illini but I would rather see our present players get time before getting another wing.

What if I told you that Indy Illini Fan, 0440 and LvilleILL are just part of a simulation run by Dan. Us casual lurkers are just victims of a simulation run by a simulation to get more internet hits.

Prediction of minute breakdown with Mayer, Nance and transfer PG.
Min
Clark 25
Epps 15
Harris 5
Rodgers 10
RJ 25
Goode 15
Dainja 10
Hawkins 25
TSJ 25
Mayer 25
Nance 30
Lieb 0
Transfer PG 15
225

Yes I know that there are only 200 minutes in a game but there will be injuries and I did some rounding.

What do yall think
I think everyone should quit worrying about how many minutes everyone is going to play. Especially since there are players listed that is not even on the team!! I been a Illini fan since 1965 and I get sometimes so frustrated with the stupidity of our fan base
