Or it stems from the teams giving Pete positive feedbackPerhaps he will. According to NBA Scouting Live article of 05-22-2022, the pros and cons of Pete Nance's game and potential in the NBA are nicely illustrated. ACCSports.com has a 05-20-2022 article under North Carolina Tar Heels News with a very good overview (with lots of video) of what Nance could bring to UNC, but they believe their chances of getting him are a long shot.
Most of this stems from the fact that Pete is not talking, and he is still contemplating his decision. Having scoured the internet, I see mention of or definite individual NBA team invitations to workouts. Perhaps others know something more definite. We shall wait and see.
I'd roll Mayer out there WITH RJ and TSJ. Hawkins or Dain at the 5.Now you're starting to think outside the box. But then you have to really sit back and think ... is he really a better option than RJ or TSJ? I'd concentrate on what he can bring to us and the eventually the NBA defensively ... and yeah, Fletch, ofc.
For what it's worth 0440, this is one of those times I hope you're wrong about NanceOr it stems from the teams giving Pete positive feedback
I'm not surprised he's getting positive feedback or that a team would take a chance on him with a 2nd round pick, given his NBA pedigree, but any idea why he wasn't invited to the combine? I thought pretty much anyone getting serious consideration gets the invite.Or it stems from the teams giving Pete positive feedback
The longer we hear nothing, the more chance he is correct ... June 1st.For what it's worth 0440, this is one of those times I hope you're wrong about Nance
Me too, me tooFor what it's worth 0440, this is one of those times I hope you're wrong about Nance
I imagine our players will get some NIL money but they have not yet (or at least I have not seen any announcement except for our walk-on player.) Some UNC players, per Twitter, have already gotten their NIL dollars (whether they were lied or not.) I am just here to point out UNC is ahead of us in terms of the NIL game. I don't blame our staff though because Kofi was the only existing player worth of consideration and he left. But from now only, I consider NIL as recruiting AND retaining money and sometimes they will be renegotiated (probably for a raise.)Confusion reigns.
I imagine all of our players are getting something through various arrangements. I'm thinking you're talking about the splashy deals we've been hearing about.
To be clear, there's not much clarity on that. As 0440 intimated, there's some thought that Garcia was lied to. Some have implied that AZ lied to Boswell. I'm sure other fan bases are saying that Kofi left because we promised 1m but couldn't guarantee.
And so on and so on. With the lack of transparency, there's not much of an ability for people to know the truth. And the idea that Illinois is the only angel out there in what we are telling players is the utmost in homerism.
I will say that in my eyes, part of the success of our NIL strategy is to find substantial amounts early for Skyy and Epps, and RJ. Don't wait for them to blow up.
We have the coach we have now because his previous employer lowballed him. Let's learn our lesson.
I took some flak for mentioning early on that I was not too keen on so many of our players transferring out. Wasn't convinced that all the spots would be able to be filled by players that would be better than the ones already on the team who knew the system.Shouldn’t have cut Payne loose so early.
According to Torvik, it changes us from #31 to #12.agreed...but adding that type of talent changes the floor and ceiling of this team by a lot. We can add another depth piece at 5. Dain should be really solid
Curious, did you come up with the usage number or did the system do it for you?According to Torvik, it changes us from #31 to #12.

Torvik's RosterCast tool does its own projections. I have neither the knowledge nor time to come up with that kind of information.Curious, did you come up with the usage number or did the system do it for you?
we willLots of eggs in the Hawkins/Dainja basket if we don’t add another 5.
Same system, adding only Nance takes us to # 14.According to Torvik, it changes us from #31 to #12.

And apparently adding Jaylen Butz (mentioned as someone we reached out to in the previous thread) keeps us at #31. Guess we don't need a "scoring machine."Same system, adding only Nance takes us to # 14.

Oh I agree. We need a warm body to take some minutes and Butz looks to be a fine player to fill that role. Just a far cry from the type of transfer we went into the season hoping for so am hoping a more impactful frontcourt option C develops if neither Nance or Mayer work out.Adding Butz as a depth piece (a la BBV and Payne) is fine. Expecting him to thrive in a larger role is not so fine.
It's Mayer or bust (or Butz, too.)Front court is going to be an issue
I find it very interesting that adding back Jacob Grandison puts us at # 16 (just two behind where Nance put us). Not that I believe it. They both spread the floor, but Pete Nance is a better rebounder and shooter and for what we currently need - defender too.And apparently adding Jaylen Butz (mentioned as someone we reached out to in the previous thread) keeps us at #31.
