This is straight up not true.
Perhaps the drop in rankings can be explained by his drop in height. Appears to have lost an inch.

And to be fair, that event was in April. I'm too lazy to do any research this afternoon, but I hadn't heard anything about a not very good summer until this afternoon.

also curious that Purdue isn't working hard to get him back in the fold.
I think we all fall into this trap sometimes. Why isn't the staff pursuing.......?

Sometimes the staff pursues someone and they say, "Nah, not interested"

Maybe Purdue isn't working hard to get him back because they know it's a lost cause and their time and resources are better spent elsewhere.

Doesn’t seem like many go back to original school after decommitting. Can remember some after entering transfer portal. Would seem there had to be significant reason for decommitting.

I'm not sure what that means. Isn't there always a "significant" reason for decommitting? Kendrick Nunn committed to TAM and backed out. This just happens. It's going to happen more and more in my opinion as other factors, transfer portal and NIL, come into play.

Hard to imagine the type of summer required to erase that EYBL achievement

Get reminded of former Louisville guard Russ Smith from watching the DGL tape. Smaller guard but compensated for it with tough bucket getting skills and impressive athleticism.

So the coaches are making a bad evaluation? Illinois is not desperate for players so they must really like him.
Expected to see you in the Assembly Hall last (Friday) night.

what does this mean? Thanks
Part of an official visit these days is doing a little photoshoot like that, the background for which is somewhere in the new Ubben I'm guessing. And because instagram followers could be confused into thinking these photos represent him committing to Illinois, he says "not committed" to avoid any such confusion.

It's all so, so stupid. I would have been mortified to do something like that at the same age. Now kindly get off my lawn.

Can't recall the 5 star from the Oregon who reopened his recruitment after committing to the Duck and then re-committed back to them after reopening. I thnk Foster was his last name? So it does happen but not often as you mentioned.
