Maybe I missed this at some point, but is it expected that Epps is leaving?
Yes. TL;DR (literally) it's.mentioned on Twitter and in the IL basketball thread. Epps followed Tipton, Andrew Slater hinted at it and Epps removed IL from his bio.

Easy post to miss. I don’t think that’s was talked about or mentioned on page 32 of the 119 pages other pages where it was all that was talked about.

Looking back, I personally preferred Nance to Mayer. I preferred both to Antonio Reeves. At the end of the season, Reeves may have been the best choice.
I agree. I rarely have inside info on recruiting, but I live in Bloomington and know several ISU boosters. The consensus was, he wanted to go to Illinois. He would really have helped us.

From news services

North Carolina guard Caleb Love says he will enter his name into the transfer portal after three seasons with the Tar Heels.
The 6-foot-4 player who went to high school at CBC in St. Louis announced his decision with a social media post Monday. He had big moments during an unexpected run to last year's national championship game though he also wrestled with inconsistency for most of his college career.

At his best, Love has game-changing scoring potential and is fearless in taking a big shot. That included scoring 28 points with a huge late 3-pointer to help the Tar Heels beat Duke in the Final Four for the first NCAA Tournament meeting between the rivals and the final game for Blue Devils Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski.

I expect misery with the full court push to land Love.....................

I hope not Epss score over 300pts. And he didn't " OD" on Monster energy drinks supposedly. Epps is a bulldog and should be an Illini for 3 more years!

It seems our targets in the portal are 1. Shooting 2. PG ability 3. Buckets generally, with buckets moving further up the list if Shannon isn't back.

If Hawkins doesn't come back I wonder if we start looking for size as well.

Not if he doesn’t listen, doesn’t put in extra work and is a poison in the locker room. Don’t get me wrong. Epps was a good offensive player at times. Especially for a freshman. Wish him luck.

CHIEF, I agree but I do trust Coach Chet and Anderson to bring in the bad boyz! I have concerns about coach Alexander none of his player work out. Bring me a hire of x' and o's for the Genaral, Aka Coach Underwood. Love em. We've seen it. Curbelo jumping in his arms, etc.

I would 💯 love Shannon back to working going right. 😆 his work ethic and demeanor are just great. Seams like a good teammate. He seemed to run out of gas before concussion. Then 3 game after. Was back to being , "Thor". Then he seemed to wear down. IMO.

I believe that a veteran PG is first and foremost as we have better shooters than we have shown if we have a floor leader who can get the ball to said shooters in the right shooting position. Then we look for a shooter second and depending on Hawk, a PF/C to back up Dain. It’s been proven time and time again that solid guard play wins games and we were vulnerable last year due our guard youth.

Ideally you address PG and outside shooting in the same player. Multi-year eligibility plus experience would be the ultimate wish list.

That guy, Moretti and DGL would be not a perfect PG depth situation, but an okayish one.

Then we'd be into the market for bucket-getting wings, which seems to always be the most available archetype of player in the portal, of varying degrees of quality.

The trouble is that we project Dainja, Hawkins, Harris, and Rodgers to all be pretty significant contributors for us, and those are all kind of weird, quirky, unique pieces, three of whom don't quite fit into a position and a different three of whom can't shoot. And two of them are catastrophic free throw shooters. Hawkins sometimes goes into self-sabotage mode. Dainja's conditioning hasn't been at the point where we can play him as much as we'd like.

BU likes a plug-and-play roster and this is stubbornly not that. An out-of-central-casting floor general would help a lot.
