The right away expectations are tempered because that's reasonable for a freshman, and also a little bit based on Rodgers' similar profile and struggles getting his jack-of-all-trades game going this year.

The longer term expectations are tempered because core players keep leaving. How long will we have anybody?

Unfortunately I relate to this.
But I am along for the ride no matter where it takes. ILL

I'm expecting something like 7 and 5 from Hansberry right out of the gates as a Fr. That will of course depend on who's on the roster, but I think he is going to be a legit contributor. He has the size, the motor, and he can shoot.

They are off in portal land convincing themselves we need every player that enters and how he will fit.

Get a true PG that will take what is given but a floor general that is in charge and makes everyone better will be the 🤴 to our chess board. Who knows, maybe it's Nico.

After that it's seeing who really comes back and what pieces we may need.

I like Amani and Gibbs a lot, Amani may be better than Dainja already, time will tell.

Would not be surprised if we get our first portal commit in the next week or two. I've said this before, but I anticipate 3-4 additions. Likely 2-3 before Coleman and Shannon decide then maybe save one if one of them decides to stay in the draft. We will likely be adding 2 guards, a big, and possibly a wing (Shannon dependent)

Definitely excited for him but kinda bummed we just lost a former borderline top 50 recruit and starter to the portal today.

I need my mourning period... Which will last exactly until the next commit from the portal. I'm strapped in for this roller coaster ride of next few weeks.

So with two open spots currently, that would mean that at least one and likely two other current roster members would leave, if my math is correct. Any hints on who you think that might be? (I realize, of course, that you likely wouldn’t want to drop such hints)

Current Roster

1. Goode
2. Melendez
3. Dainja
4. Rodgers
5. Harris
6. Lieb
7. Moretti
8. TSJ*
9. Hawkins*
10. Hansberry
11. Gibbs-Lawhorn
12.
13.

I hope not. I see so much potential in him despite his less than stellar sophomore season. I’m reminded of a sophomore-year Kendall Gill who couldn’t hit the broad side of a South Farms barn but who transformed himself into a cornerstone piece of a Final Four team.
Would love to see RJ stay. The beginning of his season was difficult offensively, but I love the idea that he never quit on defense and the boards. His elbow was flying out on his 3's and he fixed it at the very end. I think next year will go well for him. We panicked last year when there was talk of him leaving.

I'd get it if he left but would be pretty disappointed. With a true veteran us-first PG last year, I think RJ probably would've pressed less early on and not ended up with the yips. I think looking back that whatever was going on with Skyy, our chemistry was continually putting guys in situations on offense that they weren't comfortable in.

Any hints on who this might be or have you already given those hints in prior posts?
