Caleb Love: 16.7 ppg on 15.1 shots per game
Buie: 17.3 ppg on 14.4 shots per game

You may wanna rescind your statements.
I don't think he needs to. Stats may tell one story, but the games tell a different one.

Northwestern was very limited offensively. The offense was designed to get Boo, and Audige (to a lesser extent) shots. They would run a lot of clock and have to take a lot of shots at the end of the shot clock. 7 seconds left to shoot? The ball was going to Buie, and he had to make something happen.

Love played on a team with a lot of guys who could score. He just liked to call his own number.

louie lou-i.....ho ho ....baby we gotta go.......
I was at WLRW for a number of years….one year (around maybe 87/88) we brought the Kingsmen in for a concert at the tailgate party. Food and drinks supplied by my old friend Eric Meyer (Pias, Kams). The Kingsmen rocked the tailgate. Great little concert and of course performed Louie Louie (twice) which was originally written and recorded by Richard Berry in 57. That day, they actually were performing more covers than anything, but they rocked the party.
Good times. Great memories of days gone by.

A lot of guys who can score is a stretch. Every starter on UNC shot under 44% from the field except Bacot who shot 55% at the 5, which is not a good fg% for a 5. Not saying NW was any better, because they weren't, but it still doesn't change the fact that they were both chuckers.

edit: Not to mention Love is a traditional 2 on a team ranked 68th in tempo, his job is to score. Buie is a combo lead guard and is shooting just as much on a team whose tempo was 319th.

You're right. Sorry.

This year...
Boo: 490 FGA
Love: 497 FGA

Hmmm...... 🤷🏻‍♂️

And, btw, I watched more NW basketball this year than I'd like to admit.

Edit: Sedino and BashCT beat me to it.... Thanks bros.

Looking at shot volume and PPG ignores a whole bunch of context. Buie was one of two players on the Northwestern roster that was expected to supply consistent offense. They literally had nobody else.

And to clarify, I'm in the camp that adding a player like Caleb Love isn't as bad as you think. He might remind you of Mayer but he's got a dog mentality.

So as I mentioned our top shot taker was Shannon at 360, Buie took 490 and Audige too 451. Those 2 took over 50% of the shots for the entire team.

I'd certainly take Buie, but I'd put him behind Tyger Campbell, Yuri Collins, and Adrian Baldwin. My ranking would be Baldwin, Collins, Campbell, Buie.

My PSU fan coworker said he has heard that Baldwin will follow his coach to PSU if they can get him decent NLI deals. Though apparently their (in)ability to get good NLI deals was a major issue for Shrewsberry and a big factor in why he left.

I'd imagine the A-10 player of the year would have better options than Penn State. He'd really have to like his coach for that.
