There would be fans that would be upset if Hunter committed here. Those people are dumb.

You take players that make your team the best it possibly can be. Hunter absolutely moves the needle.
I’m one of those people, and I’d appreciate not being called dumb.

We are all on the same team after all, Illini fans. No need to get demeaning simply because I have a different opinion as yours.

You see incredible on the court #s, I see a plethora of off the court negative variables.

Look no further than this past year to see that sometimes adding All-B1G level talent (not massive talent, apparently that was too strong an adjective) does not always turn into conference championships and deep March runs.

Luckily I’m a BU fan and I trust him to figure it out.

In attempting to have a legit conversation with you....

I love the fact that won the conference regular season and the conference tournament. There's no doubt about it. The issue is that the conference, as a whole, has been brutal in the postseason. I DESPISE Jim Boeheim, but his bashing of the conference isn't without merit. How many teams has the conference put in the Sweet 16 in the last three years? In the years we won the regular season/conference tournament....we got stuck in the 2nd round.

I'm a big believer in BU. I'm an even bigger believer in JW. I know that they don't think that our seasons have been good enough because of how they've ended

I'm not one of those who are a tournament or bust guy. BU has been off the charts good in turning the ship around. That said, we're an elite program, we are definitely one of the haves vs have nots when it comes to donor support and NIL, we recruit at a high level.....I know that there's more life in this program than 23, 24 wins, then an abrupt end. That's why I said, we don't need to be a perennial sweet 16 participant. 5 out of 10 years should be the bar. That's not exactly lofty. 0 times in 18 years....not good enough. I don't think that anyone should be ok with that.

Maybe I'm asking for too much? 0 times in 18 years getting to the second round....it's not the be all, end all but we're better than that.

This guy didn't get discussed much. What do you think? 46.7% from 3, 80% FT 5.3 Assists. I'll buy his shirt if it's orange!
Looks like those numbers appear to be from November. Probably came in a couple of early, non-conference games. His whole-season stats are good, but not THAT great.

Cole Certa of Bloomington Central Catholic has been named Pantagraph area POY. No surprise there. His high school is about 6 blocks from my house. I've had the pleasure of watching him several times. He's an absolutely lethal 3 pt. shooter with length. There may not be a better shooter from distance in the entire country. And his head is on straight. We want him bad, but so do a boatload of other programs at the highest level. He likes Illinois. It's probably fair to say he wants to wear the orange and blue. We must not let this guy get away. I know Underwood and Alexander have been to many of CC's games. Let's lock him up and the sooner the better.

Are you serious? If you are paying attention, he’s graduating in May. If you’re not paying attention, Ivy League would NEVER accept an undergrad who had majority of his credits at another school but would get an Ivy degree. I know we all love Illini and don’t mean to be rude, but you need to know the score before you post.
Excuse me for presenting my thought. If you could read as well as you smart off, you would see I never mentioned or implied anything about the Ivy League. Additionally I have not seen anything that says he will graduate in May. His announcement only says he will enter the transfer portal. Period!

Hunter is so good that he carried Michigan all the way to the second round of the NIT with the help of only one NBA lottery pick. Give the kid a chance.
Just because he won’t be an NBA player doesn’t mean he isn’t a very good college basketball player. He is very talented offensively. And neither Kobe or Jett played in that second round game against Vanderbilt.

The Pantagraph is still around? Man, I used to deliver newspapers for them when I was a kid and it seemed to be going out of business back then!

He's good. Just not the type of player that could lead his team to a second round NIT win over Vanderbilt.

I was mostly just facetiously throwing shade at a rival player who has gone out of his way to be hated by us. Heck, many of his own fans don't even like him.

Of course he's talented. But not someone for whom I'd sell my basketball soul to get. It's not like he pushes us over the top to be B1G favorites or instant Final Four contenders.

But mostly, it's the non-basketball reasons for why I'd rather not even entertain the idea of Hunter in O&B. It would just further erode the fabric of what makes (made) college basketball special.

1. One of our better transfers in recent years, Alfonso Plummer, came from a Utah squad that had just gone 12-13 the prior season.

2. HD has made it to the Elite Eight and the Sweet Sixteen in his college career and was the best player on both those teams.

I don't know what years you are referring to, but it's still alive and well in Bloomington. I read it every morning when eating my breakfast. Back in the early '60s, I was a reporter for the sports dept.

Hey, that’s awesome and I’m happy it’s still around! Newspapers in general is amazing to see it last as long as it has in our society with everything being digital. A lot of fond (and not fond) memories of delivering papers as a kid, but really awesome first job for a kid outside of mowing lawns.
