Us PhDs have to stick together or most assuredly we'll stick apart

Except my PhD is from a different school. BS is from Illinois.

Probably why we're here. Your loyalty typically stays with the first big sports school you attend.
I got all mine from U of I Geology. BS 1968; MS, 1971; PhD, 1974, and I was an avid Illini fan from the late fifties when my cousin went to school. Thick and thin, thick and thin, but the high points live with me, and the lows are largely forgotten.

If all it took was a “head on straight” and “working on all aspects of his game” to play in the Big10 then basketball rosters would be the size of football rosters.
Have you seen Certa play or are you just taking the side of our expert because you trust him unwaveringly?

There would be fans that would be upset if Hunter committed here. Those people are dumb.

You take players that make your team the best it possibly can be. Hunter absolutely moves the needle.

I get it. Clans and tribes resort to cannibalism if they get hungry enough.

It’s been an up an down season; and a slow news cycle. Apparently you’re bored, and you wanna pick a fight about nothing. Cool.

I’m thinking most of the “upset fans”you speak of would likely come around eventually…(in the unlikely event that would actually transpire.)

So for for chrissake…If that happens…which it won’t…
Maybe give people a minute. He was the enemy about 5 minutes ago. He might fit like a glove here. Or, his personality and behavior MIGHT be an issue. No one knows. The last couple of years should have taught us that.

But he ain’t comin’ here anyway.

I know there's been plenty of criticism of Brad & rumors floating the past few weeks, but I just had a thought.

The man has a proven track record of regular season success, and getting a bunchhhh of guys reach/surpass expectations either at Illinois or their following season after being in the program.. Giorgi, Feliz, Griffin, Podz, Ayo, Kofi, Coleman, Leron Black was a monster in Brads system people forget, Plummer, TSJ, Damonte, Trent, heck Curbelo was 6th man of the year in the Big Ten will he ever have a season like that again? On a 1 seed caliber team... I could keep going, but for the talk of losing guards & whatever else, the man has developed and put a ton of guys in positions to be successful. Even Mayer this year said in interviews that Brad is great at getting guys looks & had his best year statistically in college. For the talk of "loss of culture", which I think was unfortunately just having a group of interesting characters this season rather than a Brad/program issue..I think the culture is actually in place.

If you come to Illinois you're:
- Going to get in the best shape of your life (Fletch)
-Compete for a BTT/Play in the NCAA tournament (Brad)
- Develop as a player & reach your potential
- Learn to take/handle tough love (very important lesson for young men)
-Be pushed

The point I'm actually making is these are huge & unique offers that not every school can make. You come to Illinois, and you are tough enough to buy in, you're going to be a better player/man. We have one of the best facilities in the country. In a world of constant movement, transfer portals, guys wanting to develop as quickly as they possibly can to get to the next level.. Illinois is one of the best options. We should absolutely feast in this era of transfer portaling for as long as we have Brad. The hard job for him, is to find out if a player is tough enough to follow through on Brads vision.

The issue? You don't know who anyone is until you hit adversity. Goes for all parts of life & relationships. Here's to hoping the guys we have on our roster are bought in and understand his vision from here on out. When everyone is bought in to Brad, we've seen how good we/he is.

It sounds like the military. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

This is just silly and you probably know it.
