That's what RJ averaged & he played over 20 minutes a game. At that rate, give him 30 minutes a game, & its not unreasonable that he gets to double digits regularly. He is not a shooter, but to say he can't score isn't accurate.
He was never going to be a Steph Curry. He's a Draymond Green. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar trajectory over his college career.
Full trust to the insiders, but sorry stuff like Pearl / Thomas / NCAA is etched in my brain forever..."just because we couldn't find any evidence doesn't mean there was no wrongdoing" (paraphrasing). If anyone from the NCAA comes a knocking after rayj hopefully commits, I got a response for them...
And a very special thanks to his parents for making sure his birthday was not the night before a penn st game.Really? He's 18 (turns 19 tomorrow).
Ty certainly is an asset. He does so many things at a very very high level. That said I don't think its hating to state that he has not shown any reason to be optimistic he can become even a ok shooter. I don't recall him making jumper outside a few feet but he didn't take bad shots either. He knows what he is good at and doesn't force things. He is clearly a hard worker and I'm sure he has been working on a jump shot for years. Hopefully that may happen but is it likely? If not that is ok. Because he does other things. However if he can just develop into a 65 percent FT shooter i would be estatic given his other skills. I do feel some are being overly optimistic that he is suddenly going to hit jumpers and be a lottery pick. He doesn't need to be either to have a huge impact for our squad. He doesn't make many errors, he does so many things well, and knows his role. I just hope he can improve at the line because he can get fouled often playing as hard as he does.It appears Ty does not appeal to the fans who want 15 points a game even if the player he guards scores 18. Personally, I prefer outscoring your opponent.
Lesson learned. From now on, we recruit only players who were not conceived in the months of February through early August. And a very special thanks to his parents for making sure his birthday was not the night before a penn st game.
I get it. I have those scars as well. I did just throw up seeing Satan's name.Full trust to the insiders, but sorry stuff like Pearl / Thomas / NCAA is etched in my brain forever..."just because we couldn't find any evidence doesn't mean there was no wrongdoing" (paraphrasing).
We are going to score 80 points a game??Everyone is up in arms over Ty. He does not have to be a great shooter. He just needs to create a simple baseline to elbow jumper. We are going to be balanced. If Ty gets us 8 and 6 a game, I am elated. Our success is not predicated on him scoring 15 a game. We have at least 6 guys who will get us double digit scoring. You throw in another 3 guys getting around 7, that’s going to be near 80 a game. Scoring is not going to be an issue. Was Lucas Johnson a great shooter? Not really but he was a glue guy. Ty is our glue guy who will get into the heads of our opponents, rebound the crap out of the ball and play solid D. Why dont we let him be him and not invent a player that he isn’t?
The most frustrating part is that CH’s birthday wasn’t even on the eve of the game; it was the day of. How is Friday possibly the decision when you have all afternoon on the actual day of your birthday? I get it - your parents flew in and want to take you to dinner. Schedule that at 4:00 pm and usher them safely back their hotel by 7:00. Or do it on Thursday because that whole weekend was probably right before finals and therefore, quite wack. Kids, smh .And a very special thanks to his parents for making sure his birthday was not the night before a penn st game.
I am predicating that TJ returns, Goode will get to 10, Dennis if he signs will get over 10, Domask will, the replacement for Hawk, Nelson?, will and possibly Hansberry. That leaves Dain, Rodgers and Harris/Harman. Scoring will not be a problem with a better PG who can create space. We are going to score 80 points a game??
Right now I think we have one guy on the roster who scored double digits in Domask.
Let's see what we have first.
Our offense was not good last year. I think in the 60s nationally.
For real. Ty obviously has growing to do to be an all-NBA player. But their Freshman stats are pretty darn similar (keeping in mind that Dray played on a much better team his frosh year).

We need a commitment to distract us, we all have too much time to think.
It would be more interesting to discuss food than Rodgers scoring or lack of a jump shot.
I will take Ty Rodgers all day, every day and what ever his contributions are or will be is great for our basketball team. Ty is 'Da Man' and he will make us better. Please no one should make him feel unwelcome. He has choices and I want UofI to be his University of Choice.Everyone is up in arms over Ty. He does not have to be a great shooter. Yes, but Downey knows more than them. Just ask him. Can’t and Won’t are two different words RE: Ty shooting. Someone saw enough ability to put him on the U18 National Roster
I don't find it funny. I didn't know anyone was recording me!Now that is funny!!!

I'm sure a ton of teams will be after him, but if Coleman goes pro, he'd be a heck of a replacement.
Another constructive criticism?Six pts. per games in which he played 20 or more minutes. Oh my; a veritable lethal weapon.
As long as we don’t Pad Thai’s stats.Perhaps we could make it a two-fer by discussing our favorite Thai food?
