Not worried but this is the college landscape right now.

Was the RayJ Utah visit planned or a late add? Sorry, haven’t been keeping up the past few days.

Can't blame RayJ for considering all opportunities. Does make one wonder if he is not sold on what Illinois has to offer. Chicken or egg scenario. Get RayJ and Shannon/Hawkins come back or Shannon/Hawkins come back and RayJ selects Illinois.

Unless its the Jazz I'm not sure that a visit to Utah should concern us. Would seem like a weird destination even if we weren't where he wound up going.

I don't know if it is. I heard LaTulip say Brandon Paul was projected at 44 and with all the international players other guys BP fell completely out of the draft. Ayo also fell from being projected in the 20s first round quite a few spots to 38th in the second. TSJ could easily fall. I am not as confident as you that TSJ will be selected nearly that high. If the NIL money is competitive id take the sure thing if I were TSJ and Hawk.
Since the 2nd round does not have slot money, I am not sure it really matters where he is selected. He cannot rely on mock draft to decide whether he will be drafted though. That's for outsiders like you and me. As far as Hawkins goes, I would return if I were him unless a team gives him strong indication. Again, the mock draft is not reliable even given his current low draft position. That's why they are going through the process. What I tried to say was I would go if a team told me they were going to draft me for sure in the 2nd round.

Depends on the type of lifestyle you’d want to live. To live reasonably comfortably for ~60 years, you’d probably need to make $5m-$10m. That seems to be pretty rare for college athletes today, but in the next 5-10 years, definitely doable.
That $5-$10M figure seems more than a bit inflated from where it should be. For reference, the 50th percentile American makes somewhere close to $2M in lifetime earnings, and even the average person with a PhD makes less than $5M in their lifetime. Even Engineers who work for 40 years typically make well less than $5M in their lifetime. And all of that is pre-tax money. Most of those people do live fairly comfortably lives. Really, being a millionaire (post-taxes) at the age of 20 should allow that person to live a very comfortable life given they aren't foolish with their money, they invest/save, and they do some type of work that supplements their earnings on interest. And again, just for reference, a 25th percentile earner with a Bacherlor's degree will still make about an additional $1.5M in their lifetime. The problem is that a lot of people don't make good financial decisions and live a bit too luxurious a lifestyle for their means when they do have strong financial viability and thus run into financial issues later. But you can live a very comfortable lifestyle for far less than $5-$10M (2.5x to 5.0x what an average person will make in their lifetime) by the age of 20. Honestly, what percentage of Americans have access to even 1 million dollars at that age? Gotta be something like 0.1% or less.

I saw people posting in the Piper podcast that RayJ visiting Utah thing and people surprised so at this point I’m thinking it’s just a rumor but will let the insiders confirm. I apologize to everyone for posting that and freaking people out, I will take the wrap for that. Next time, I will put a question mark on the post or frame it as an actual question before posting.

Everybody Panic!!!!!!!!!!
While I will not "panic," I will certainly approach this coming season a lot differently...

- Fully expect a rebuild (unlike last year where I held out hope for a seamless "reload") and just enjoy watching the young/new players progress.
- Hope that what we replace the lost production with at least some significant improvement in chemistry ... what ups and downs we do experience are growing pains, not bipolar disorder.
- Bank on us ACTUALLY getting better as the year goes on and if we sneak into the NCAAs as a #9 seed again, hope that it's with the type of momentum that gives us all confidence that we can actually go on a surprise run.

Let's just hope they come back. :)

So I'm RayJ.....

I have a good idea where I'm ending up......

However, I get once in a lifetime opportunities to be a big-time recruit.
Get flown to different campuses.
Get treated like a King on multiple levels.
Listen to how much they want me there.
Listen to how much money I will receive from NIL for playing there.

I'm taking those visits.

Then going where I was going to go all along.
