If the previous NIL numbers exchanged in here are in the neighborhood of accurate, I'm having a hard time getting my head around what the kitchen sink type eleventh hour numbers could be that we threw at him yesterday.

A seventh figure, maybe? Wild.
But also, all promises we don’t have to keep. Technically speaking… so we (and other teams) can kinda just say whatever the hell they want to

If any point guard reads this thread we are not helping Brad’s negotiating options.

Sounds great, as long as [bolded above] correlates very highly with [in an attempt to win games for the Illini]. Often last season we seemed to have guys who were trying to accomplish the first bolded statement but it had little to do with the second.

I guess that's Brad and the staff's responsiblity to make sure they align.
Yes, and for a PG winning games goes hand in hand with making the right decisions on the offensive end.

Go Illini

If RayJ does end up coming to play for the Illini i don’t know if I’ll even like him after all this.
Eh. Winning cures all and while this doesn’t endear him to the fans following, still a 22 year old who has a ton of people in his ear presumably pulling him in a million directions

I'm sure winning would help that feeling go away. I remember listening to Bob Stoops at a charity event once and they asked him how he dealt with those who didn't like his style after taking over for Barry Switzer and he goes "Well... going undefeated and winning a national championship in year 2 seemed to get all of those people on my side" 😂

Right now it's the biggest decision of the kids life, involving hundreds of thousands of dollars which might be the biggest pay day he ever gets. I honestly don't blame him for going back and forth and taking his time and dragging this thing out until he feels comfortable with his decision.

My fiancée goes back and forth 30 times on what to get for takeout and the stakes are obviously just a tad higher here for him.

while im hoping for RayJ, i have to wonder how a big NIL $ deal tastes to the other top players who are
getting significantly less? particularly those who have been around and done a lot for the program. Brad
will have to deal with this, maybe not his best skill set.
I'm sure if you thought about that, he did as well! That's why they get paid the big bucks! IJS 🤷🏾

Been following this for weeks. A month ago I was really hoping RayJ would come to Illnois. At this point I would prefer that we get a different point guard, who wants to play for Illinois. It doesn't appear that he does. In my opinion Illinois is too good to have to beg a kid to play here. Team dynamics are important and if he is only coming to collect a check, I think we are better off with someone who will consider it a privilege to play on a great team (of course, getting paid a good amount to do so). Frustrating!
Maybe RayJ really wants to play for Illinois and get paid?
