Once again, thanks to all our insiders. I'm sure you get tired of answering the same questions over and over. But know it is truly appreciated.

And with that....enjoy

Tomorrow there will SO much news across college bball-obv our two guys, Edey, and a bunch of big names with the stay/go decision across the country.
Also, there will be a couple of potential grad transfers that will be in play for Illinois if they enter, specifically one. It could cause Harmon to get pushed out, but if they have a chance to go after this guy they will
Don't like the sound of this. A kid decides to transfer, picks Illinois, and then gets shown the door before even suiting up. Not a good look for a program.

For me, it depends on whether the decision to go is the kids choice or not. I'd be fine with: "We have recruited <stud> at your position. Do you want to come and be their backup, or would you prefer to look elsewhere for more playing time?"

I just don't see Brad doing this. He would not have recruited Justin Harmon if he did not think he was good enough to play for Illini. Plus he has 2 years of eligibility at a position (guard) where we are very thin and young.

JMO but it is premature to assume either or both TSJ or Coleman return. Sometimes you are just done with college. TSJ has played 4 years of P5 basketball. He is good enough to play overseas. Coleman has more to prove in college but no guarantee he will choose to do so. He may bet on himself to make an NBA roster as an undrafted free agent - see Kendrick Nunn /Miami Heat (via g-league).

If TSJ, CH, and RayJ all pick Illinois, it really wouldn't be the kids choice at that point, we would be out of scholarships. If all 3 of those announce for the beloved this week, I for one, hope we are done, Harmon (or anyone else) doesn't deserve that.

Did anyone else just have a flashback to the “Groce can count” days reading this or is it just me lol

Is this a reference to playing time/starting or to loosing his scholarship? Not sure Illinois could just take his scholarship away at this point. If it’s the first option, suck it up and earn the minutes.

Wait so youre saying they could get Shannon and Hawkins back plus RayJ and another guy could push Harmon out after committing?

Seems kinda messed up to do the kid but I guess that's the new reality.

Not sure what Zach can prove in college. Tired of playing against him. The only B10 center who could challenge Kofi.

Also difficult to pay him due to Canadian citizenship. How did Illinois pay the Browns?

I doubt the Browns were really NIL guys. Sydney had been here since 2018 and been a part of some really bad secondaries. He didn't really breakout until last year.

Chase was a transfer from Western Michigan after his freshman season. He had a pretty good 2021 season but nothing mind-blowing before getting rode into the ground last year.

This isn't accurate. We can do those three. The point LVille made was that yet another grad transfer would come along and Harmon would get pushed out.

No. RayJ has already withdrawn.
Here's where we stand as of 4:41 on Tuesday afternoon.
-Staff has been quiet about Shannon and his decision-which is a great sign. He did not get the feedback from the Magic he was looking for. Expect an announcement that he's coming back to school tomorrow.
-Coleman working out with the Grizzles today-he has not totally decided what he's doing yet. However, his dad wants him to come back and I think he's leaning that way slightly, especially if Shannon is back. Expect an announcement after Shannon later in the day.
-RayJ finished his workout today with the Bucks. Utah and Michigan are out. It is down to Baylor and Illinois, who both are making serious pushes. If Flagler is back, RayJ is automatically going to Illinois. If Flagler stays in the draft, then both have a solid shot at him. Honestly though, I think Shannon coming back would push Illinois over the edge.

Finally getting some answers tomorrow-it's been a very long offseason haha.

ILL
Any idea what flagler is planning on doing or is it pretty 50/50?

I think you’re both saying the same thing. 🤔

Are you referring to the Guy from Kentucky?.
Would hard to see him coming to come off the bench in a 6th man type role unless Brad wants to play real small ball and Coleman is ok playing the 5.

RayJ, Reeves, Shannon, Domask, Hawkins with Rodgers, Goode, and Dainja off the bench would be a pretty nasty rotation and really wouldn't be that undersized.

Reeves is not coming to Illinois. There’s going to be no new additions to the roster outside of Dennis.
