Does losing RayJ allow us sudden payroll flexibility to buy CoHawk out of the draft?
Hawkins is one of the most interesting players to come along in recent years. He has such a unique and varied skill set in a single player. Along with that a great passion for the game and a burning desire to succeed. (Some guys have the all talent but fall a bit short in the ‘desire to get better’ area).
But it’s certainly not an easy or obvious decision about what is best for him at this point in time. And honestly, not even those around him can know the answer to that. Because... he could return to The Beloved and have breakout superstar type of season... or he could just stay at the solid but not Nationally eye-catching level he’s had in the past. Which could hurt his value and draft status later on. But his potential makes him a great player to take a chance on in The Draft with high potential upside. Wouldn’t want to be the guy who passes on taking him.
How to decide? When you don’t have facts... go with what feels right in the moment. Does he feel better about coming back (NIL or no-NIL) or moving on? Only Coleman can answer that question and only after tuning out all the big noise and competing interests that he’s currently surrounded with right now.
