I think “deluding” likely applies to Ty and Sencire playing PG as much as DGL. If Williams isn’t healthy enough, Harmon might be our least bad option there.Williams seems like our PG next year combined with serviceable contributions from Ty and Sencire. The sooner we stop deluding ourselves with DGL and Moretti hopes at that position, the better.
I wonder if some of these kids are told that they have the opportunity to earn minutes but worse case scenario they get access to state of the art facilities, s&c, practice against high D1 athletes, and will get support transferring to mid majors if the opportunity to play at Illinois doesn’t end up being feasible. I’d entertain that idea if I was a prospect without better offers. If you're talking about Harmon when you said he and Williams have 2-3 years left, that's not correct. Harmon played 2 years at a JUCO. He was a 1:1 A/TO ratio in JUCO too.
If you look at our roster, we're really in a bit of a recruiting mess. Not to pick on the kid, but I did not understand the Moretti commitment. Granted I only saw limited video, but he didn't look really close to Big Ten caliber to me. It reminded me of the Lieb offer. Loved Lieb's effort, but he was not Big Ten caliber. But you can't really force them to leave. Last year fans wanted Lieb's scholarship for a transfer, now we want Moretti's. Well why bring them in then, if you need a practice body, bring in a walkon.
Agree.I think “deluding” likely applies to Ty and Sencire playing PG as much as DGL. If Williams isn’t healthy enough, Harmon might be our least bad option there.
Ty, unless he makes a magical improvement in skills, is a PF. Just because he shows good court awareness doesn’t make him a PG. Not even close.
Oh I think they could be a second weekend team now.Even with Johnson, I am not convinced we are a 2nd weekend team, yet.
We are clearly in an experimental phase. Forced by circumstances, granted.
What makes you think they won't?What makes you think boosters will commit to the same funds in this case?
99% of people don't even use the term in the right context. Can we be done with the term creaning?
What used to be an unethical practice seems only fair now.
Because we’ll get one open …
If Johnson wants to be here … We’ll make room …
Oh I think they could be a second weekend team now.
The whole PG thing really is talking about getting beyond the S16 where you have to have enough leadership and organization out there to execute at end of shot clock and end of game situations.
Last year I did not think we could put two games of decent basketball on both sides of ball together. We couldn't put two halves together.
We should be much more consistent this year.
What makes you think they won't?
One excuse is that lower draft position guys TJD and Edey killed us last year and Edey will be tough to beat this year too.I agree with all the PG talk but I think a lot of this also comes down to do our two returning stars play like stars. I know NBA draft doesn’t equate to NCAA success but with two guys that were around top 40 on the big board, on paper we should have 2 of the top 3 players on the court against nearly any non top 10 team. I’m not sure we felt that was the case consistently last year.
There’s consistent talk about how much depth we have. There’s consistent talk about how much improved chemistry we should have. So if we have depth, chemistry, and 2 first team big ten type players, there shouldn’t be an excuse right?
Delude…. You’re being very undeludeI think “deluding” likely applies to Ty and Sencire playing PG as much as DGL. If Williams isn’t healthy enough, Harmon might be our least bad option there.

Loyalty nihilists: "We believe in nothing, Underwood. Nothing. And tomorrow we come back and cut off your (Chris) Johnson."Delude…. You’re being very undelude
Lol. Just watched that movie again last night.Loyalty nihilists: "We believe in nothing, Underwood. Nothing. And tomorrow we come back and cut off your (Chris) Johnson."
Harmon is serviceable if that is what we end up with, and arguably an upgrade from Epps and Rodgers and Harris. So, where is this PG? The one we got is injured and in rehab (at best). He is NOT going to start practicing on Jun 12 (as far as I can tell).
We have a lot of talent. On paper. And, a lot of Boom gifs. The rest is all TBD.
I watch parts of it multiple times every day in my headLol. Just watched that movie again last night.
Mine, tooThere was only one recruit who was considered a PG. The rest were by committee/resource scarcity. Epps, Rodgers and Harris were filling a need. That’s my point.

Also assuming they might actually run the plays staff called more often.
Not ideal and would prefer they bring in another guy but we will be good no matter what. I would think in upper division of BT and in 6/7 seed territory right now.
I refuse to believe that you just drew that conclusion by identifying ONE common thing about the two players. First of all, Jayden Epps was the best player on the floor for us in multiple games last year, he just didn’t keep it up all year. Second, why would you not stop and consider all of the other variables about Chris Johnson? Skill set, background, coachability, basketball IQ, etc. before just saying “well he was ranked similarly at the same position of this other guy.”I don’t understand the excitement around Johnson. He is a freshman shooting guard rated in the top 100. Sounds a lot like Jayden Epps at point last year…
when was Epps the best player on the floor for us? When he constantly got abused on defense? Or when he occasionally had a decent offensive game? Sorry that part of your post is completely wrongI refuse to believe that you just drew that conclusion by identifying ONE common thing about the two players. Sorry to single you out, I know you were just making a general comment, but I am baffled by the amount of comments I'm seeing that are so illogical. If I went through and responded to each of them simply by stating the logical fallacy they’re guilty of, each thread would nearly double,
