I don't think you have to squint too hard honestly with the way the NBA is these days. Basically anyone with some length and shooting ability(Reeves wasn't even much of a 3pt shooter in college) is capable of playing in the NBA so it's not too far of a stretch to say Domask or Goode could end up playing a bit.

Also, Rodgers is just a 3pt shot away from being an NBA player. It's not guaranteed he gets there but if he improves as a shooter he probably has the best chance to be a 1st Rd pick of anyone on the roster.
Just a 3pt shot away? While true, in 577 minutes of action, Rodgers took a whopping 0 3pt shots last year. He only took 4 shots outside of the paint. In fact, 61% of his shots were at the rim, and the FTs, not good, not good at all. I don't know if Rodgers has taken a single jump shot in those 577 minutes. He's literally starting at the ground floor.

Honestly, I don't even know what improvement looks like in this situation. I was kinda floored when I looked it up.

I think we'd have have excellent talent around Mulcahy. However, who are the two legit NBA wings? Obviously TSJ is one, but I can't see anyone else on the roster that comes close. I'd think the starting 5 would be Mulcahy, TSJ, Domask, Hawk, and Dain. Maybe substitute Guerrier for Dain. Fantastic lineup, and lots of talent on the bench. But again, I don't see another "legit NBA wing."
RU last year was good not great. Compare their roster to ours which is better

Paul is a tough nose defender and he is a similar player as DMFW and Brad Davison from Wisky or Drew Neitzel or Aaron Craft Stats don’t tell the whole story

I hate when we play him but he is a solid glue player

Good post. Just a 3 pt shot away is easier said than done. A lot of college players are just a 3 point shot away from being really good. And a lot never get there.

With Ty, I’d be happy just to see him score from outside of 6-8 ft from the rim. You have to walk before you can run.

I disagree on that with you. Weber messed that up. If I was BU I would take a high school athlete like Meyers was with our staff over damn near anyone and I loved the Snake. Meyers was a freak and how that staff used his abilities and skill was a joke and a waste. Plus, in spite of that he was a lottery pick and later off the court he is being paid.
I think the comparison was just nba careers, which pretty obviously goes to Norman

Well I loved the Snake. I just think Meyers had more potential than any big man I ever saw since 1972 when I moved to CU as kid. And I loved Egremont and Kofi. Meyers was not used properly, was still a lottery pick after only 2 years! That is still even more frustrating than seeing Podz not play any all really and yet be first rounder a year later. Meyers was a freak and it would have been awesome to see what BU or Fletch could do with if we could land a 7ft freak athlete like Meyers was.
Snake was a great Illini but as a pro his teams rarely made the playoffs and he saw more opportunities as Clipper, Buck or Hawk as a recall. Id take either for sure again but man Meyers was a freak athlete.

Honestly the biggest issue is that he only managed to shoot 38.7% from the free throw line which means he probably is starting from the floor. However, shooting is technically a teachable skill and if he can simply become average at it I think he will play in the NBA.

Plus, his uncle is Jason Richardson who was a very good shooter over like 15 years in the NBA. He has connections where he can work with some really really good shooters.

Also if you want to be floored by something. Sencire Harris was a 20% ft shooter. It's difficult to fathom that we had two players shooting that poorly from the line when 5th graders can shoot decent percentages.

Meyers was super raw in college. He honestly was a better NBA player than a college player. Tisdale was honestly a bette college player.

But Illinois has Newman Hall. I knew someone who lived there. On Sunday mornings they would open their window to hear the choir while in bed and claimed it fulfilled their obligation of keeping the Sabbath holy. Plus they were more rested.
Three of my children have lived at Newman Hall. Great place and primo location. Definitely better than where I lived for my dorm experience -PAR

By what measure????? Sure, Tisdale had 3 good years, whereas Meyers only had 1, but that's because he was a lottery pick...

I think making 1 3pt shot and 5 shots outside the paint would be improvement technically.

ILL in IA

Iowa City
Hmmmmm…. what might that be???
Bad situation. Pedestrian died today from a car accident that happened 2 weeks ago in Iowa City. Reports are the driver was Frans son Jack. Depending on the details around the accident, legal action could come into play. Everything I have heard about Jack were he is a good kid, I feel bad for everyone involved.

Wow. Pretty shocking at how little some people here think of Dain/his potential. He had a really good season for it being his first actual year in college.

In regards to Dain, people are going to be very surprised in a few months
Agree. Find a real pass-first PG and a three point shooter to spread the floor (Goode), and I think TSJ, Hawkins, and Dainja can all be All Big Ten.

Not sure if the rest of Goode’s game gets the last starter spot, and obviously PG is unresolved
