Well I wish they would have made a push towards Paul. However, TA knows Williams and others here very well. BU knows what he has too. Williams likely being here three years after transfering will be a plus as he gets better. One thing Reeves can do is shoot and I would love that too. It could really spread the floor. I just hope we can land Reeves if we pass on Paul.

sounds like Paul passed on us

Regarding Paul….the staff wants a shooter. And they are really happy with what they have seen from Ty running PG for stretches of the game. Also they don’t think Paul is going to go anywhere inside the conference. Was hard for him to leave Rutgers. He loves that place and Steve.
On one hand, I think Ty at PG gets our best five on the floor, which is great.

On the other hand, I’m already having flashbacks of Jaylon Tate dribbling at the three point line wondering why there was no defender within 15 feet of him.

I have high hopes for the dancing bear, but the legend of Dain as this perpetual freshman is overdone. He’s from the same class as Hawkins. He’s going to be a senior this year, and a grad student if he stays/transfers next year.

Did people refer to Podz last year as “basically a freshman”, “actually his first year”, etc? For some reason this board treats Dain different than all other players in that regard.
I think he'll actually be a redshirt junior this coming season. Iirc, he took a medical redshirt as a freshman. Then played three games his second year before transferring. He would be a 5th year redshirt senior the following season. Not sure, he might even potentially have a super senior season beyond that?

There was some confusion, or thinking he had taken a regular redshirt his first year, and a medical redshirt the year he transferred. That would have made him a freshman in eligibility last season.

Would have preferred Paul as he is the better fit for this team. I am not surprised that he doesn’t want to transfer within the conference. Sounds like he has respect for Steve and Rutgers as a whole. Hopefully Ty can give some continuity at the point this year especially getting steady minutes and a specific role for him.

What stretches of what games?? Rodgers is a high energy and effort guy. If they want a shooter then he is the last guy you want on the floor for extended minutes and he has never really played PG in his life.
I remember watching Sergio before Frankie got here playing point who was actually a much better version of Rodgers.
It was still less than ideal.

Why are we hell bent on recruiting over Domask and Goode who are both considered good shooters?

Sergio, at PG, was not "a much better version of Rodgers"

Paducah, Ky
To be fair he shot 40% on 6 attempts per game so not really a chucker
To also be fair , I can not understand the offense being run at UK.............Even with Oscar T. the last couple of years it seemed more confusion than distribution as a whole.........I do remember Reeves shot some 3 pointers on the fast break transition game last year
but I wasn't overly impressed with his play and kinda wondered what the big deal was when he left ISU.........

We need a healthy , waiver passed PG more than anything else , IMHO........A good PG will result in more points by way of assists than anything Reeves could do.........
I am confident that Goode will boost our 3 p %..................looks like Domask will also...............

I am very excited to see what Amani H. brings to the Illini.....
Hope Dra can progress enough to see some time on the court....

Cohawk and TSJ should also improve their stats from last year as it could be their last.......( I can't keep up with the covil year and all the portal stuff)

Well , NL # 3 is calling me , so ta-ta.............................

I don't think adding Reeves is recruiting over them much.. You can never have enough shooters. Maybe Domask or Goode could play the 2 but I expect them to battle Quincy at the 3/4 or back up the 3/4 spot Hawk should plays 30 plus between the4/5 . TSJ plays 30 plus at the 3/2. I see Reeves playing the 2 or a little 1.
A line up with several shooters on the floor often would be a nice change.

Imo I'm not the biggest fan of not going for Paul. They are really rolling the dice with that-They feel Ty, DGL, Sincere, TSJ, etc can play pg by committee. The passing should be improved with some of the guys we brought in, but it's all about if the pg play can be decent enough. That will be the difference this year between being just in the top 25 or a top 10-15 team in the country.

They really like Reeves, but it won't be easy to land him. Think we have a pretty decent shot though
Agree with this. Reeves can score it but doesn’t fill the biggest need. After march all we heard Brad talk about was how we need PG play and have to run offense. That PG in my opinion needs to be a threat to score from outside 10ft as well. Think this is a huge mistake and also think this staff doesn’t just get the “benefit of the doubt” anymore after last season and this offseason. Hope I’m wrong but they’ll need to prove me wrong to gain my benefit of the doubt trust back

They did kick the tires. It was not as well received as they originally thought it would be. Don't think he's staying in conference
Very unfortunate the Illini have a game at Rutgers this year, might have made a difference....

Try to recruit someone, they aren't interested, then tell people to report that you didn't really want them.

Isn't that the way it's been going for a while now?
I think they really wanted RayJ. I have not heard or read any sour grapes regarding him.

Sounds like Mulcahey isn't at all interested. Why waste time pursuing him? That is not sour grapes.

I don't understand the interest in Reeves, don't see the need, they have Shannon, Damask, Goode.

I don't understand sleeping on Moretti; if that is what is happening.

Wondering what's up with Harmon.

GMAB. People here have Rodgers as a lottery pick if he can learn to shoot. He is a 7/8 guy on a good team at best right now.

Sergio would not have allowed Pickett and Perkins and a host of others to abuse us I can tell you that, and he could shoot beyond 3 feet.
