Does anyone else smile have a side smile and happiness in the gut when they look at UK roster and only 7 scholarship players on roster. They got a "big commit" yesterday from the #187 recruit a 3⭐ 6'9" 190 pounder...the day of the burger boys may be getting away! 6'9" 190, he needs to eat a cheeseburger, or two!
Das ist schadenfreude...sehr gut!

While I agree we need someone to better pass the ball, I wonder to what degree those numbers are due to offensive style. A team like Purdue likely has a high number of assists because Edey needs to be passed the ball to score. How does the number of assists equate to victories?

Agreed, need additional metrics to furnish a complete picture
Seems we had a lot of "shoot first, pass second" players, some of whom were not outstanding shooters.

Thanks - I'm not sure where to look for this, but it would be interesting to see those numbers adjusted for pace/tempo.

Wow, Minnesota was poised for a title run last year.

For 3 years of Kofi our passing game was either dump it to him in low post or run Ayo/Kofi pick and roll.

It also created a lot of wide open 3 point looks and opponents collapsed of Kofi.

Lot of easy assists.

Last year was first post Kofi year and the offense really struggled to create open looks. Feeding Dain in low post was successful in non conference but opponents quickly realized that they could double Dain and Illinois did not have the shooters to punish them.

The only picks set were above the key. Very little motion or back cuts off the ball. When people did get open there was no inclination to pass the ball to them.

Not fun to watch us pass the ball around at top of key then launch a guarded 3 pointer.

I hope Brad learned his lesson and forces the team to run the offense even if it means playing only freshman and walkons.

I thought the insiders said the staff reached out and did not get a lot of interest so were moving on? Did that change?

Can someone provide a recap regarding Mulcahy? Did we not show interest? Did he turn Illinois down?

Why you need a PG
1. bring the ball up against the press
--- minor issue last year, we have multiple players that can handle the ball reasonably well in open court. Sencire, Ty, TSJ, Coleman

2. call the play/trigger the offense
--- big issue last year. No reason why Coleman, Ty or TSJ can serve in this role

3. focus on creating shots for other players
---Nobody did this. Jayden was shoot first guard. Skyy did not appear to know how. Can Sencire learn? Are Nico or DGL options?

4. guard other team PG
--- Sencire can do this, Nico?, DGL?, Harmon?

Are we allowed just to eliminate UConn from all NCAA tourney metrics? They are so anomalous they break all the predictive metrics. Crazy

Most of us are running on the assumption he will not transfer to another B1G school.

If I were him, I probably wouldn’t either.
Yeah, I'd love to have him (this team is quite seriously a serviceable PG away from taking a HUGE leap forward from last year if you ask me...), but he was pretty good at making enemies with opposing crowds, haha ... just imagine his return to the RAC. I think any school with a need would make it work and it would all be "fine," but I could see why the kid might want to check out another conference.

illini0440 stated Paul's primary drive is hardware and I believe a couple other insiders said there wasn't any interest in him coming here. While we didn't put on the full-court press to get him, it also likely wouldn't lead to anything. So we're looking at Reeves now and will just have Ty play the point according to Lville. So far Loyalty is, eh-ehm, skeptical. I think that summarizes it.

I thought Lville said (if Williams not available), it would be PG by committee w a few guys sharing time there. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I also read/heard PG by committee if Williams is not available.
