Mr. Podz's year with the Illini was , unfortunately , the year of the super senior's and kept him down on the depth chart......

What I can remember of his play was he had a good cut to the rim from one corner and RJ hit him with a bounce pass for a bucket.........I can't remember if he ever hit a 3 pointer for us ....he probably did , maybe in a non conf game.....
Seems like he always hustled and got some rebounds , but showed little to lead me to believe one year later he would be in the NBA draft and a very possible 1st rd pick........
I congratulate him for his achievement and wish him the best...................Placing blame NOW is kind of an afterthought and since he left on his own accord , I feel it's time to move the F... along and get behind the players we have NOW........

There is a lot of physical and mental maturity made annually by 18-22 yr old recruits ..........To pine away about a " what if " with Pods is futile and has been beaten into a bloody pulp of tissue and ligaments that can never be rebuilt........

Now , where's our PG and where's my cottage cheese pizza ??????

didn't PODZ have a big bucket to help the team win at Northwestern in 2021-2022?

As in a big 3 fairly late in the game.

Had to look it up. Didn't play next 2 games (wisc and indiana wins) and got 2 minutes in loss vs Purdue.
then didn't play against Northwestern and Rutgers.
After First NW game - he played 5 more minutes to end the regular season with no shots/points during those 5 minutes.

Many were questioning his usage down the stretch and the number of minutes the starters kept getting - resulting a very tired and banged up tournament team

Ones things for certain in all of this.. someone was seriously bamboozled over the last couple of months..

Either:

All of loyalty by the insiders
The insiders by the staff
The staff by any quality PG they talked to

Maybe a little bit of each

I still think there is a relatively high ceiling IF Ty/committee can grow into the PG role over the non con and/or Williams is ready/allowed to play but I'd have a lot more confidence if we had a stable piece

I agree, other than he's not a great player (at least not yet). The way people build narratives is crazy.
Agree also. Played some PG but not “a ton” as some poster said. If he did indeed play a ton of PG for the Illini last season then he better show a lot of improvement in the off season or Illini are in trouble as he averaged all of 1.0 apg.

For what it is worth, I do think we’ll see a nice up tick in his play this season. I’m not loving the move to PG if necessary, but it is what it is. I’d just rather see him employ his unique skills from the forward position. I’ve seen a lot of people on here compare Ty with Draymond Green. Well, though DG didn’t play with any elite PGs at MSU, he wasn’t the PG. And if memory serves me right, I believe he plays with a decent one at Golden State. Having DG’s skills at a forward is a big advantage. Having him play PG is another matter. Same for Ty I believe.

This is quite possibly the most negative fan message board I've visited. If there's bad news, there's heaps and heaps of negativity. If there's good news, there's usually also heaps of negativity and devil's advocacy. If there's no news, its well, lets talk about some negative things like Brandin Podziemski, Jayden Epps, Skyy Clark to pass the time. Intersperse some cottage cheese/pizza discussion as well to make it somewhat palatable.

It's a shame I am starting to feel like I need to just avoid this place, as Illinois basketball (and football too) are a couple of my favorite things in life. I have so many on ignore already, it seems they just pop up everywhere. You'd think it was 2016 in here where we're winning 4 conference games in a year and not, you know, coming off the best 4 year stretch we've had in about 20 years.

Sorry for ranting but geez...

Haven’t really seen many people talk about the staff maybe just being ok with doing PG by committee/Ty and Williams taking over in late Dec or January when fully healthy. Could be a good growth opportunity for Ty and others.
And if you can't be with the one you love, honey...

Love the one you're with.
Love the one you're with.

Lololololol buddy, visit a St. Louis Cardinals board right now.

I think this board is pretty positive. I think one issue is that if any poster shows the slightest bit of frustration with the staff, most other posters confuse that with overwhelming pessimism and act like people are going to Brad’s house to bully him into resigning.

That is also negative and I won't stand for it! Good post, however...

I feel you. Nature abhors a vacuum; some people are just gonna complain because it fills the void or because that's their equilibrium setting. (And, no, to the those who are about to accuse me of Jonestown-esque O&B Kool Aid thirst, this isn't a binary matter. I'm talking about the Eeyores among us for whom the glass isn't even half-empty: it was always shattered.)

I've likened this time of year on the BB thread to sitting around the feed mill in town waiting for the crops to grow and speculating about when the rains will arrive. Difference is that if we were actually doing that in person I'd modulate my unrelenting negativity about the imminence of a hundred-year drought lest, in the event that my DIY electrician skills were found wanting at some point, the community would gather at a safe distance passively to watch my house burn down, instead of manning the fire hoses.

I don't use the ignore feature. That would deprive my ocular muscles of the workout they regularly get from rolling my eyes vigorously.

November will arrive sooner than I'd like given how fast life seems to pass for me at this point. And then we'll see what happens where the rubber meets the hardwood. Talk is cheap. Look no further than my numerous off-topic posts to pass the time here. It beats kvetching. IMHO.

I think there is a difference between positive and underwhelming news.
Last year, there was nothing but positivity and excitement.
That didn't go over well.

This year the expectations were high, especially with the info the insiders gave us and the staff seem to have underwhelmed big time.
It's hard to get excited about a PG coming off an achilles injury when you were expecting RayJ.
It's hard to imagine having a good season without addressing the PG position adequately when last season was a disaster when compared to expectations and one of the reasons was PG play.
