Ahhh.... the irony that Flagler went undrafted. Could have saved a lot of headache and 10,000 posts if he went back to Baylor.
I know there's a lot of nuance behind the scenes with things we don't see, but Brad seems like a smart guy. The PG position is an obvious need to even the average Illini fan. Whether it seems desperate or not i would be using every tool in my tool belt, every penny of NIL money to find a serviceable point guard.
I know Williams wasn't the answer, but there I something to be said about the optics of this PG fiasco.
Is it overconfident in his job security, over confident in his roster, or just complacent?
“Afraid of a Mayer redux”I'd genuinely love to know what BU's rationale would be for not wanting a dude like Kriisa, given our situation. Like what's the argument against it, exactly?
"We're content with Ty" doesn't hold water because if that were the case you wouldn't have pursued Williams."
"No room" doesn't hold water because of the now very open Williams slot.
"Can't afford him" doesn't hold water because of the RayJ money we all know to still be available.
Where's the bucket here?
I love Ty and if you look at my post history I have always said as much. But to carry the water for Brad about this narrative that Ty is our PG is a bit much especially when we don't have any legitimate PG options with college experience. How do we know he's not? Just because a scholarship is open, it doesn't mean we'll use it. BU likes to have one in his back pocket for mid season transfers. You're calling a guy out who is one of our best contributors. Slow the roll and let's see what happens.
This is shaping up to be an off-season that causes major change for us. Imagine getting two nba level players back and being a bubble team.“Afraid of a Mayer redux”
Which is funny, because with no Mayer last year this wasn’t a tourney team.
When all this drama is resolved, would someone post an “all-clear” in the women’s basketball thread so I will know it is safe to return to this thread?
Even if it works out without picking up a legitimate point gaurd, it was still the wrong move. Why risk it?You gotta admit... if Brad does stick to the Kerr turndown and rides with Ty and it works out that changes the narrative quite a bit. High risk High reward type move.
We’ll it was kind of a “gamble”.More than just the waiver and injury
3 scenarios I see happening here:
1. Kriisa comes here
2. Open spot is left open for Boswell
3. Brad jumps to WVU
Edit: just saw Indy comments on WVU…

We haven't considered that 1 and 3 are correlated. What if Brad won't move in Kriisa b/c Brad holds out hope for being hired to WVU? Huggy was making slightly less than Brad. There is probably money there....
Dear Lord, does anyone want to play point guard for us
I believe point gaurd is the most important position on any team. It all starts and stops with them. Without a solid one you can't play at the level needed to make it to the second weekend.I love Ty and if you look at my post history I have always said as much. One could argue that he giveth a couple of games, he taketh away some others(NCAA Tournament, Big Ten Tournament, IU @ home, @ Purdue).“Afraid of a Mayer redux”

Beggars can’t be choosers. It is amazing how many people on this site considered Krissa and Mcahey total dirtbags and now think either would be great on this team.
Look, I still hate Mulcahy, but somebody's gotta bring the damn ball upIt is amazing how many people on this site considered Krissa and Mcahey total dirtbags and now think either would be great on this team.
