We offered and the kid didn’t take it. He took Baylor’s money. Then why is everyone so mad at Brad and not wanting to donate to basketball anymore?

Oh come on. This comment makes you sound like an entitled baby. This entitled, spoiled baby was happy to donate and support the program when student athletes committed to four years and an Illinois degree was valued and earned. You know, when the word LOYALTY actually meant something I felt my investment was worthwhile. I’m from Lou’s era, so while I’m not necessarily a fan of the current style of leadership, it’s the state of the NCAA, B1G, NIL, transfer mayhem and lack of academics in COLLEGE sports that made me close the purse strings. I know a few others share my views.
I don’t take this as proving your point. Your point last night was about Underwood not performing. This poster is unhappy with the state of college athletics and doesn’t want to support it. It’s their money, they can do what they want with it. I’m sure you make choices about what you give your money to.You're essentially proving my point. You were happy to donate when you got your way. But now that you're not, you're taking your ball and going home.
Thanks for explaining this. Pardon my ignorance. I’m the blissful type. The money doesn’t go from the school/team to the athletes. The school can’t pay them. The money is coming from the collective. So my assumption is that the funds are probably pledged for X player if they will come. When that happens, it is funded. Or the funds are with the collective and they haven’t seen a player Underwood is making a legitimate run at that they are willing to pay RayJ money for.
Unless you ask someone who runs the collective, I don’t know that anyone else really knows. People on here love to share what they know or just their opinions, so if you’re not getting a response, it’s pretty safe to assume no one knows. No need to get all irritated and sassy if no one knows. It’s not a conspiracy theory.
Apparently somebody does, because I was literally replying to why people don’t want to donate. I didn’t realize only you are entitled to you share your opinions. You are wrong, loyalty did used to mean something in college sports. But thanks for the Mansplaining.Oh come on. This comment makes you sound like an entitled baby.
Nobody cares that you don't want to donate and that's fine just don't do it. Loyalty has never meant anything in college sports. Basically no athlete has ever cared about getting a degree and they were all helped along and ensured that they got passing grades without actually doing work.
For decades, universities and the NCAA made billions of dollars off the back of unpaid student athletes that 99% of never make money at the professional level.
Yes, I agree that the idea/ideals of the student athlete is a myth that many still cling to…even though most know better.Oh come on. This comment makes you sound like an entitled baby.

We almost always spend our money in ways that comport to things we want. Are you suggesting there's something wrong with that? You're essentially proving my point. You were happy to donate when you got your way. But now that you're not, you're taking your ball and going home.
You’re welcome. I’m not sure it’s 100% correct, but it’s my educated guess from what I’ve read, heard, and seen discussed. There isn’t a whole lot of clarity with this and I’m sure there is variance based on situation. Thanks for explaining this. Pardon my ignorance. I’m the blissful type.
Yes, anyone can do whatever they want with their money. No disagreement there. But this particular poster took offense to someone else being called an entitled baby for threatening to withhold money because that person didn’t get his way then also demonstrated those same qualities. Do what you want with your money, but don’t assume that donating means you have control of the levers.I don’t take this as proving your point. Except, collectively, it kind of does.Yes, anyone can do whatever they want with their money. No disagreement there. Also… when did I mention anything about Brad underperforming?
I agree with your point that donating doesn’t necessarily mean you have control of the levers. Although now I think they may more than ever with funding players and coaches salaries. I can see that point with the the donor in Indy’s post last night who felt Underwood was under performing and was stubborn. This poster seems to question the integrity of the whole system (which you could question how much integrity there ever was) and feels less like expecting to control things to me.Yes, anyone can do whatever they want with their money. Lol yes. I'm totally guilt of mansplaining on a faceless message board where I have no clue what anyone's gender is.Apparently somebody does, because I was literally replying to why people don’t want to donate. I didn’t realize only you are entitled to you share your opinions. You are wrong, loyalty did used to mean something in college sports. But thanks for the Mansplaining.
For the first 20 years or so of college basketball, the coach was also a student. Somewhere along the line it was decided that job should be a paid professional position. If you stop and think about it, why should the players be any different from the coaches?
Happy to explain.Boy....this used to be an enjoyable part of my day. Was always concerned that using the ignore button would cause me to miss something of substance. Anyone care to educate me on how to use it?
I always heard that there are 2 things that you don't want to see how they are made......bills in congress and whole hog sausage....maybe I should add a thirdLol yes. I'm totally guilt of mansplaining on a faceless message board where I have no clue what anyone's gender is.
I'm sorry you yearn for the days where you bought players with cars and duffle bags full of cash instead of NIL. The only difference is now everything is out in the open.
