Yea if PG should wind up going to another school other than Illinois....I would think that would be one of the biggest misses in Illini recruiting history.
You can't do anything about it though if he's intent on creating his own path away from his father's shadow. Not saying that's what he will do, but I imagine it would be difficult to convince him otherwise if that were to he the case.

This video does a solid job of expanding on the conversation we are currently having. Henricksen agrees with Indy that Jakstys is likely a mid-major talent, but also agrees with ILFan and Bash that there's some logic in taking him in this current system. Also, man, I'd love it if, despite everything with Jeremy, we could lock up Jeremiah Fears. Huge talent.
Maybe Indy is Henricksen.....? 🧐

Expect the P5 offers to start rolling in a little bit for Phoenix Gill … Iowa State, Arizona State, Xavier, Michigan State, Ohio State all showing extreme interest …

Don’t know how many will really push the gas … They all know where he’s probably going to end up …
Good to see the offers though. Not that it matters, but it supports the staff's eval

Pretty sure Brad realized he not only had the size, versatility and talent to potentially be a solid big ten player but also the *exact* kind of character he looks for in guys. Either way this is a dumb rabbit hole I will be pursuing no further lol
Don't worry , there will be many more dumb rabbit holes opening here .......give it an hour or two....................

if it's who's better at 18, you're right. but if it's who's better at 20-21, I think that it's far from resolved.
don't you think the offers by the coaches who's career depends on being able to project which player will be better would be a strong indicator of that?

One isn’t necessarily better than the other though. A coach may prefer to have someone that could contribute sooner but have a lower ceiling instead of a prospect that may or not be good in 3-4 years. Given our foreseeable frontcourt depth, Underwood can take that gamble. On paper, we look like we’ll have one of the best frontcourts in the B1G for the next few years.

It turns out that projecting 17 year old kids can be very difficult even for coaches who depend on it for a career.

Guys slip through the cracks or go under recruited all the time. Look at the current environment where every major program is poaching all kinds of talent from mid majors to come play over or replace their highly ranked recruits.

Remember the year Jordan Caroline(Nevada) played Donte Ingram(Loyola) in the elite 8 and both were local kids that didnt get looks from Illinois. Ingram had played with both Nunn and Tate while Caroline's dad is Simeon Rice.

If you want to go even more extreme both Ja Morant and Damian Lillard didn't have major offers.

exactly, especially bigs. Garza, Happ, Kaminski...those guys weren't flush with high major offers

True but I imagine he probably even gets an inflated NIL offer and more sponsorship opportunities because of all the old alumni with money that love Kendall.
Good point. We are living in a new NIL world now (or for now). The Gill name is worth its weight in gold in Urbana-Champaign and the UIUC alumni network. More than any other place I can think of....
