A couple of days ago I noticed on the IL home page that one of the football coaches made an in-home visit. I seem to remember that in-home visits were pretty common a few years back but I realized that I rarely see or hear of them now. I suppose Covid had a lot to do with that but I was just wondering if that was the only reason or if in-home visits are a thing of the past, more or less.

Feels like you want to talk about Kendall's son again. We don't have to go there, but just know that I won't contribute anything meaningful to that discussion, but I will throw in sarcastic GIFs and comments.

LOL! While I wouldn't mind having PG if he wants to come, I was NOT trying to stir up that hornets nest (no pun intended). I just kinda like Kendall's Dad dance moves.... FWIW, big fan of GIFs and sarcastic comments!

It's nice to have a team that makes this "recruiting thread" less important.

Enjoy, We're back !!!

The good recruits will come
I get what you're saying, but I don't think that there's ever "less important" that goes with recruiting....ever. if we were 9-0, recruiting wouldn't be less important than if we were 0-9. You can never assume that with winning comes recruits, ESPECIALLY when there's money now involved.

As fans, we want to enjoy a great season, but there's a scary fact out there. That fact is that we're going to have a COMPLETELY new team out there. With TSJ, CH, MD, QG and JH all being gone, we'll be losing close to 85% of our scoring and close to 60% of our rebounding and that's if we assume that nobody transfers out.

Given the climate of college sports(NIL and the portal), obviously enjoy winning, but there will never be a day where recruiting will be less important.

3 of those 5 were PORTAL recruits. The portal door will still be open to Illinois, and may play a impactfully large role in ILL's future.

It's gonna be a very fun portal experience for Illinois fans in April
After last spring, I'm not sure my heart can take it. It was a 2 1/2 month roller coaster that ended with learning of the RayJ decision moments before an in person business meeting. Talk about having to hold myself together against all odds.

A nice, clean, painless roster rebuild would be much appreciated. If you can give this note to BU, that'd be great.

If you have ever lived in the Chicago area, you know there are three parts of the state: Chicago, the burbs, and Southern Illinois. If you really must make finer distinctions, there are the southern, western and north lake burbs.

So was last year. and the year before. as another noted, a lot less drama is more fun at my age.

two months ago we were told that BU thought he could get all four of Lewis, Gill, Fears, and Butler. Still hoping for three but worried it will be just one.

No doubt lots of people love this sort of stuff. Doesn't do much for me.

On the roster I don't see the TSJ scorer for next year. If one is in teh portal Illinois needs to go all in. Even if CH decides to return for a 5th year he isn't that type of player. Ty needs to develop a shot, so there is a wide opening for that player. I'm sure a Knect type big Wing/SG will become availible we just need to identify and successfully recruit.

Sean Miller time? ;)
As an Arizona alum (and grad asst. coach), I cringe at the thought of Sean Miller EVER becoming associated with an Illini basketball program of which I have been enthralled since the mid 1950s. That Whitman would entertain the thought of bringing a proven cheater into the program is unacceptable and has never been entertained by him to my knowledge and never should be. At my age, BU may be the last Illini coach of my time and I am fine with that....but Miller replacing him could be a death sentence for the program regardless of number of wins. If you need to cheat to win, or condone it, you should not even play the game....am I right Michigan?
