It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime. What better place than here, what better time than now?Still obviously going to be a bit of a long shot, but Jeremiah and the staff will try their best. Never know
There will be a real run at this...
Rutgers just got two kids in the top 5. And yes one was a brother of a former player, but still. Our NIL is also top 10-15 in the countryObviously as an Illinois fan, I'd welcome any 5-star players especially one ranked #1 by 247. But, I'd have to ask, if I take my bias away, why would a top 5 player who is almost definitely a one-and-done choose Illinois?
Our track record when it comes to putting guys in the nba isn't great anytime recently and the only guy we have in the nba ended up getting drafted well below practically all mock drafts. It's a broken record at this point but our NCAA Tournament success since 2005 is nonexistent.
Why would any player like this kid choose us over a Duke or Kentucky who consistently put kids like this in the lottery year after year and give them plenty of playing time? We have great NIL sure, but it definitely isn't close to the top teams in the country.
One of the worst post in recent history. If Cade Cunningham can go to Oky St. and be on a mess of a team. Then go tops in the draft. Why not on an Illini team that does nothing but win? If you are that elite and 1 and done yes Fighting Illini!Obviously as an Illinois fan, I'd welcome any 5-star players especially one ranked #1 by 247. You could say this about 30-40% of the five stars in 2024 who didn't choose blue blood schools. Alabama? Georgia? Miami? RUTGERS?Obviously as an Illinois fan, I'd welcome any 5-star players especially one ranked #1 by 247. How much does a number 1 in the class cost?Rutgers just got two kids in the top 5. And yes one was a brother of a former player, but still. Our NIL is also top 10-15 in the country
I think if you’re #1 in the class you aren’t concerned about the program turning you into an NBA lotto player - realistically he’s on campus 7-9 total months.Obviously as an Illinois fan, I'd welcome any 5-star players especially one ranked #1 by 247. Not interested in entertaining the possibility of us landing Dybansta until we have an in-depth analysis of neck length in relation to height and copies of X-rays to give us an idea of growth plate development.
All hell can't stop us now! What better place than here, what better time than now?
