With the success of this current group of hard-working, fun and talented players and the buy in this year of Brad's culture by even players that did not get as much playing time as they might have hoped for this season, I do not expect any more transfer talk on Loyalty about Luke, Dain or Dra. The fact that each of them played meaningful minutes this weekend on such a great team and that Brad showed that he had confidence in them to contribute during crunch time will pay dividends for their decision to return next season. They were each lit in that post-game locker room! Add Amani, Sencire and Morez and you have a foundation which can be augmented with a couple of high end scoring threat transfers, of which I expect there will be many beating down Brad's door given the success of this year's group and the NIL that is available. No reason that we should not be right back in the thick of things next season. Nice to have a program that is all about reloading rather than rebuilding thanks to Josh, Brad and the incredible ILLINI coaching staff. But first, six more games to go . . .

Linking to the scholarship grid thread because I needed to remind myself that we still have 3 schollies available as of right now for to add transfers in for next season before we even need to worry about replacing anyone that elects to leave:

I want few things more than for Ty to develop a reliable jumpshot this offseason, he'd be such a tough matchup in the college game if you couldn't sag off him when he's got he ball near the FT line.
Ty needs to hire Marcus Domask as his "bully ball and free throw" coach this summer . . . and then be All Big Ten in his place next season!

I’d be tickled to death if we only needed three, but unfortunately I’m a realist.

Really feel BU only has to fill the big 3 of Hawkins, TSJ and Domask. I think there are guys already on the team that can replace QG and Harmon‘s minutes. Big shoes to fill but BU has proven he can do it.
I would anticipate the same process as the last two offseasons, we will go get the best basketball players we can get with our NIL dollars in the portal for every available scholarship, without a great deal of concern for years of eligibility remaining or strict positional fit.

I'd really, really like a true PG, but all things considered it's hard to argue with the results.

The key is going to be finding scoring. We will need to bring in an Alpha because none of the guys coming back seem like that guy.
Agreed, and thankfully buckets tend to be a highly available resource in the portal. It's the more well-rounded games that are rarer, but our staff has done a good job finding them.

Interested to see what happens with Dain now. Have to admit he is either playing himself into a starting position or will be a extremely coveted on the Portal Market. I would be surprised if he would be willing to come off the bench again.

If the NIL increase is real, these are the situations where you can overpay to keep a valuable big off the bench (if he’s interested).

If I squint, I can see a future where Dain and Rez are the staring front court with a transfer rim protector and Amani backing up. This is assuming Dain's defense continues to improve.

Regarding Dain, he just wasn’t a good fit for the way we played most of the year but that doesn’t mean he won’t be next year. We’ve basically run brand new offenses each of the last 3 years that cater to the strength of our personnel. Quincy and Coleman have complemented each other beautifully as switchable bigs who can also stretch the floor. And I am sure we will look for stretch bigs in the portal but unlikely we will find someone with Coleman’s skill set.

Hopefully Amani and Dain both stay. With those 2, Morez and Ty I don’t think the other team would hardly get a rebound.
