Man people will always find a reason to complain and moan huh?

Try telling someone who went to the U of I from 2013-2017 and saw 0 tourney berths, a combined 29 B1G wins in 4 seasons that it was somehow "fun" watching those guys develop just because they stayed here 3+ years. That's no shade to Malcolm or those guys but that assuredly was not fun losing to Rutgers on the road to kill any chance of being the "last four in", or Tracy missing a point blank layup in the BTT as time expired against Michigan to seal not making the tourney.

Every guy on this squad chose to come to U of I (Quincy turned us down twice before but still!) and put that jersey on. Whether they were here 4 years like CoHawk, 2 years like TSJ, or just one like Domask....they are putting together one of our winningest seasons ever and will be Illini FOR LIFE. If you feel like that's "less fun"......sorry but you need to get your head checked.

If there's any ambiguity on how some of these transfers feel about their connection to the university....take a look at Alfonso Plummer's twitter page and handle: No mention of his JUCO or Utah (where he spent the majority of his college career) but he chose to put "UIUC Alumni" as the first thing.
THANK YOU. This season has been a blast.

Five years from now, maybe players will be transferring less because they'll be having some kind of unionized-multiyear-NIL deals, and then people will complain about that, too.

Yes, that's a nice meme, but this looks different to me. We lose four starters. The one we have returning is tough defensively and a good rebounder, but he's no threat to score if he's more than 3 feet from the basket. If BU's job isn't in fact to rebuild, I'll be surprised.
I expect DGL to be here and make huge progress this summer. Junior year all big ten

Assuming Luke comes back which I believe will happen but who knows - he is our only outside threat (compared with this year TSJ, Marcus, Coleman and Justin)
DGL hit two 3's vs. Morehead State but thats only one game. We saw RJ shoot well freshman year and become very average from 3 last year and this year
Sencire will be back for great defense. Hopefully he learned to hit the wide open 3 and finish his drives to basket. Start TSJ 430 am shooting practice.
Ty has to be able to shoot the wide open 3 and maybe the free throw line jumper. Go with Sencire 430 am workouts.

We need wing outside shooters.

I like our bigs assuming they all come back - Dain(?), Amani, and Morez. If Dain can lose some more weight so he can play better defense and block more shots he could become a 30 mpg inside threat and rebounding machine.

I’m the same - the last 2 years have really taught me it’s the players not the years. The exception is I will forever be thankful to Trent and D’monte who to me built this culture for 5 years.

I didn’t feel a connection with Mayer, Skyy and given the chemistry/winning issues that probably makes sense.

I do feel the connection to QG and Domask wanting them to win for them because it means more to them even though it’s year one in the O&B. Throw Harmon in there for that matter who accepts his dog house games 😂
No connection with Epps either.

We are clearly one of the haves vs have nots(NIL). We'll be able to benefit more than most, but this still isn't healthy for the sport, most notably prep recruits and mid majors. Pretty sure the college game wasn't meant to put 24 year olds vs 18 year olds. The toothpaste is out of the tube now, so just have to roll with it.

I DESPISE agreeing with Izzo, Calipari and Pitino, but.... they're right. Jay Wright got out of Dodge, just in time. For the coaches that value their job because they're developing boys and making them men and they're taking a raw talent of an 18 year old and maximizing their abilities as a 22 year old...that's over.
The NCAA is a semi-pro league these days. Like it or not the old days aren’t coming back.

I am a believer of DGL’s 3 pt shooting but he is different than Luke. Luke is a specialist who knows what he’s doing offensively. DGL is versatile but needs to work on his shot selection (and defense) to stay on the court. You don’t want to make DGL just a specialist.

I’m sure this has been answered before, but can someone tell me the players who we’re 99.9% sure are gonna be on the team next year? Thanks.

We will have some wings who can shoot from outside. The staff knows what it is doing, and ALL the insiders have been saying that the portal season will yield multiple "high level" guys. Plus, other guys will continue to improve. We have no idea how well DGL or Amani are going to shoot next year. FWIW, they both looked pretty good during pre-game and open practices. Haven't heard much about what Buck's shooting has looked like, but assume he has really been working on it. I agree that I would like for Ty to be at least a threat to shoot a three. If he develops a respectable jumpshot, he is league bound.

Jake Davis (Per Louisville)
Luke (my guess 90%)
Amani (90%)
Buck (85%)
Nicco (75%)
DGL (75%)
Dain (50%)
+ walk ons

My best guesses from what I have seen, heard, and read. However, I have no inside information and I may be completely off base.

How many guys have been asked to leave? Seems like, Clark, Epps and Melendez all were gone on their own. I think Coach feels a loyalty to guys once he gets them here. If they stink it up they may not play but I don't think he's ever asked anyone to leave or taken away a scholarship
Brad is honest with the players, and the guys who are upperclassmen and not getting much playing time are told they may want to transfer if that is important to them
see Leib and a few others

it’s pretty common across the league

Sure, but I don't think he pushes, suggest maybe. If I had 2 or 3 years towards a Uof I degree I would want to finish. I know I know times have changed and I'm 60 something. Don't think it worked well for Lieb. Was thinking about that earlier, wouldn't that be a kick in the !!!. You transfer for a couple minutes of playing time and your former team wins 🏆 it all

There will be at least 2-3 impact transfers to join. Also recent history shows 1-2 will transfer out.
