Since we’re already wildly off topic: the key question here = do you consider a wrap to be a sandwich? If you take a classic Italian sub but choose the wrap option (or lettuce wrap at JJ), is it still a sandwich? If it is, then it’s not crazy to say a burrito is a sandwich, though I would still disagree (on account of the slippery slope principle…is a taco then a sandwich too?).

Glad we’re focused on some important philosophical questions this morning.
See, I think a wrap is a wrap. Its more samdwich-adjacent, but not a sandwich.

People saying that we need to keep players like Goode/Harris and we need to move away fro players like Aj Storr all the while the wanting a national championship is very mind numbing.

I glad Brad doesn’t see it this way.

Illinois faithful, why can’t you embrace greatness? Sometime this fans base has kind of a losers mentality. If we want to be blue bloods we need to think and act like blue bloods.

Stats aren’t everything. He is the human spark plug off the bench that can restart the entire team when they are stalling on the court. We all saw it firsthand when he single-handedly changed the entire momentum of that game against UCLA. He’s a valuable asset, even without high scoring ability. Any team would be lucky to have him, including us.

absolutely true. but he wants more than being a bit player. probably a lot more. fully get that. and he can get that elsewhere. can't make him stay

I agree, I just don’t appreciate disparaging comments suggesting he wasn’t valuable. We should just be grateful we had such a great attitude player on our team and wish him luck.

Same as the 2020 class, Miller, Curbelo both gone but the most unheralded of the three in Coleman stayed and made his mark.
Also reminds me of the 2011 class with Mike Shaw, Myke Henry and Crandall Head. All of those guys were at one time in their HS careers listed on Rivals as a 5 star, only to fall to a 4 star player and eventually transferred out.

Just goes to show....you never really know with these ranking systems and HS players. It's such a crap shoot anymore, especially nowadays.

I always get the burrito bowl at Chipotle and if we can connect a bowl of toppings to a burrito to a sandwich I feel like there are no rules and that's really a reflection of modern college basketball. Boom, back on track 😀

I don't think he would have made the difference in beating UCONN or getting a higher seed.

He got to save a year of eligibility which could be worth a lot of money for him if he develops into a good college guard.

Hoped he would stick around but the decision makes sense when you factor in the amount of talented guards coming in plus possible transfers.

Think his best move might be to transfer to a smaller program where he can play 30+ mins and develop offensively.
Next year he can challenge Charlie Moore

The thread has been moving so fast i haven't seen it disected like everything else...does the staff really think Storr is worth that TSJ money?

You need role players that come into the game and know their role and that is in addition to the stars of the world like Storr. Goode can change and impact a game with his shooting, Sencire can change and impact a game with his defense and energy

Well, one blue blood with even more money than we have seems to think AJ Storr isn't worth his asking price.

I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth on this, because I'm sincerely conflicted about it.

There's a lot that's exciting about Storr the basketball player and a lot to be skeptical of. And while I think we should resist the temptation to make his journey of seeking out the value he's earned as a player out as some sort of moral failing, it's hard to blame people for thinking "this is what the recruitment of a guy who never passes the ball looks like".

Dude, its not just about us but him and his time in as a college athlete and student. He got an extra year of college, developed , will make more in NIL and most likely make the most possible. He earned his spot this year on scout teams im sure. Not everyones destiny is the NBA or even as an Illini. I wish him the best.
You sure?

Crandall was a different class. He came in with Jereme and Meyers.

I didn’t think Myke was ever ranked that highly. Thought he was a late bloomer that built up to the 4 star. He also played a few games in the NBA. Pretty solid outcome.
