I don't know, friend. The optimists are still fighting the pessimists and Indy is defending himself, all since the commitment. But still love the memes!

0%. Neither Booth nor Maddox are transferring in to not start.

In addition, Dain left for a reason and that reason is his role was 100% not going to be extended, The staff has made it extremely clear they want a mobile 5 that can spread the floor.

Booth is nowhere close to a starter. He was not good at all at Notre Dame and isn’t anything close to an inside player.

If you started Booth/White, the defense would be a disaster. No rim protection at all. Morez will for sure start over Booth

Boswell upside is that Daddy Brad can look at him and say..if you really are an EDG and you want to put in Ayo, TJ, Domask, CoHawk type work.....you're going to be a monster.

He absolutely has that Deron type upside. Now it's up to him to get there.
Hope TSJ sticks around Ubben this spring and summer long enough for him to overlap with KB and introduce him to the beneficial effects of those 04:30 workouts.

If booth commits I’d expect him to be the starting 4. They’ll be getting a 5 down the road here soon.

Who’s the 5 they would be getting that is better than Morez?

Tre White will start. Most likely at the 4.
There’s no way Booth starts over Morez. Booth shot 30% from 3 last year. He’s not a floor spacer at the expense of a guy in the paint like Morez who can be expected to play D, rebound, and finish around the rim

Really hope Sencere and Hansbury stay. Both have shown glimpses of being solid contributors. Think both would help next year and could see Hansbury playing as a 5 with 3 pt option.

I'm curious..say we land Maddox, Booth and Storr and assume no Hawkins or Domask. Do you think that team is better than last year?
There's not a player in the country, IMO, that was better than TJ last year. He was dominant on both ends and carried us in the BTT and NCAAT. That player won't be replicated.

I'm not sure that MD's value can be replicated. He was just a big, big, big time player who was the second of two "go to guys". Man, that guy came through time after time on the big stage, in the bright lights.

With Coleman, very difficult to replace 6'10", athletic, versatile and our second best defender, who again, performed when the lights were bright.

That team is playing UCONN one round too early from being in the Final Four and two rounds from playing for a national championship. I don't think that there was a team, not named UCONN, that we wouldn't have had at least even odds against. We were that good in March.

While we can be very, very good in the scenario that you outlined, we wouldn't be adding a player that got past the first weekend(in some cases didn't make the tournament). The upside would be terrific from a pure talent standpoint, but Brad would be PROBABLY national COY if he pulled everything together and got that group to a second weekend game.

Wow, I wasn't aware that was the case! I just thought that once the number was hoisted, that was it.

So, we know what the parameters are to have the number retired. They're pretty intense and rightfully so. Are there parameters to getting the number in the rafters or is that more of an arbitrary call?
They do not retire numbers.
There are multiple ways to get your jersey hung up in the rafters though.

Insiders please give us some hope besides a possible Boswell he is decent not great so far in his career.were going to need to fill alot of minutes and especially I'd were losing Amani.youll keep saying we're not going to take a step back but atm looks like we're taking a major step back not just in talent but depth.i so hope I'm wrong I understand were in on other talent but it seems like we're moving in the wrong way.with Maddox, stor, and losing Amani so far it seems hard to think we will have a top 8 program as been suggested.im truly not trying to be negative as I love our illini and always try to be positive but I feel like we need alot more then Boswell to make that happen.how do we stand with Amos if we possibly lose Amani?
Relax and be patient

White will be playing more of the 3. At 6’7 he’s not tall enough to play the 4 in Brads offense. Booth is 6’10. But it’s positionless basketball. Brad has the flexibility to move them around.

Insiders, is this a situation you guys feel we need to get a commitment from Maddox now? If he makes it to Xavier he is gone? I feel if he leaves Champaign without committing he is gone, but would love to be told otherwise.

Frankly, even if we'd won a natty this season someone would be complaining that it would have been a smoother, more elegant road to the NC hardware if we'd had a proper PG and diabolically crafty inbounding plays.

It's just the way it is. Can't think of too many who readily offer: "Gee, you know what? I was [somewhat/kinda/completely] wrong about that take, no matter how cold it seemed to me at the time."

As for me, I just wanna give it my best shot and, the good Lord willing, things will work out.

The point everyone is making is you had Goode starting. 0% chance that happens.

It’s possible Johnson starts. How quickly that happens depends on how he performs. But Goode isn’t starting.

The team of the following is an extremely good well balanced team that absolutely would expect to be top 25 and compete for a BT championship. Bottom of the BT is an absurd take.

Boswell
Maddox/DGL
Ty/Davis
White
Booth/Johnson

Plus the potential of adding/keeping:

Domask
Hawkins
Amani
Harris
Storr

We are in a great spot with an exciting team next year that is certainly good and potentially great.
Nice job in capturing the players.

Add Goode and perhaps Moretti, and I think this snapshot fairly accurately portrays where things stand right now (today) and we're probably only 15-20% of the way through the overall portal process. However, I wouldn't use the word GREAT until we add a few guys from the bottom of your list.

He is not in Champaign yet.
